Speaker < $6K Recommendation for Job 225

Hi, long time Dynaudio user, and recently got a pair of Boenicke W5, base version. Nothing compares to Boenicke, never heard so much detail delivered with a sweet rendering, all performances are like live performances, even studio ones look like you are seated right next to the singer. Please give a read to Boenicke W8 and W5. I think one review is made with your amplification . Give me 10 min I’ll look into it.

look for the W8 review as well, it will depend on your room size and taste, personally I love monitors, have a very special charm and imaging.

João Miguel,

I'm a big Dynaudio fan and your comment was very interesting for me.
Which Dynaudio did you compare the W5 to? Just want to know for reference.

Regards.

Hi Nikhil, I’ve owned Special 25 and X12, but at the dealer have listen to Focus 140 and 160, Contour S1.4, and recently demo the Contour 20 and Special 40.
Please don’t get me rong, I’ve been a Dynaudio fan boy for over 20 years now, and not easy to be sweped away. That said, Boenicke got into my live like a lightning bolt, it was mind bothering how those small boxes sounded so natural, with the correctness os sounds spread all over the room... The sound stage is wide, tall and deep, with the fading act like Dynaudio, but sounding more natural.

Your ears will not lie to you, you instictly know that you are in the presence of a special pice of hi end gear, it will take just a few seconds...

Thank you all for your input.

Just to recap, below is the list I will be doing further research:

(1) Dynaudio
(2) Penaudio
(3) Harbeth (I got so many people recommending it that I have to give it a listen)
(4) Totem
(5) Devore
(6) Spendor
(7) Rosso Fiorentino
(8) Boenicke

I grew up with Tannoy speakers at home and actually auditioned the Tannoy Revolution 8 XTF. Didn't like how it sounded and found out they were made in China and not Scotland.

Thanks

I have not heard of Boenicke until you mentioned it. Now I am intrigued. Definitely will pass the WAF, the small form factor will work when we downsize our house. Furthermore, looks like a match for Job (all Swiss). I am interested in the W8. Now I have to find out where can I audition a pair.

Hi ct221933, glad I could help, that’s why we have forums, thanks god.

I don’t know where you live, but Boenicke will not be easy to find, if you are in the US the the dealer is https://pranadistribution.com/ .

In Europe probably will be a bit easyer, but please move some hearth and heaven to demo a unit.

You can try on the forum if someone near you have a pair, and be kind enough to let listen to them.

I’m from Portugal not much I can do... But can give you glance of my W5, but please bear with my system, the Pathos have a wonderful 80wpc and can do wonders with the W5, but will benefit from more power, will have to upgrade amp in the future.

Have fun and enjoy the hunt...

Things to consider.

Read the 6moons review of the Boenicke W8's. They need a lot of room away from the back and side walls. The review had them pulled out to the middle of his room.

Hi Mechnutt, that’s absolutely true, but side walls are not the biggest problem, because you have a side bass woofer that you can face them inward or outward, but from rear walls you’ll need to pull them a bit forward, it’s all due to the rear Twitter, gives you deeps and ambient to the sound stage.

I love my Pure Audio Project. Open baffle provides a very nice bass response for Jazz. I had Sonus Faber Luito floor standers. Not a jazz speaker. More rich, fat and ported box whoomp. Better for rock. More drive. In jazz I'm looking more for air, natural wood sounds, accurate.

Legacy Calibre (Active or Passive) with or without Wavelet,...heard them recently in Atlanta and they are truly amazing at what comes out into the room.

Small form factor but weighs about 55 lbs (!), heavy motor structure on the woofer; you won't believe your ears!

at least 5 audiophiles i know love their boenicke , so the w8 is most certainly worth a listen

I'll register another vote for Revel...F208 is a sure thing and well under your budget. Wouldn't be shocked if you could get the new F228 BE at your budget or a little over.

Someone also mentioned Joseph Audio....You might check out the Joseph Audio Profile.....a slim floorstander which is excellent sounding and easy to drive.

I have a pair of Revel Ultima salon v1 in like new condition, gloss black for sale that I would love to put up against the rest. I wouldn't call one speaker better than another since we all have our own taste, but these still sound very good.

parasound has lots of high-current juice and works really well with revel--look for an hca100 or the like.
