We are so proud to be the first shop on the planet to have one of these babies. Had fun setting it up and listening to it this morning with Louis Desjardins from Kronos.

Congratulations Mark. Love the photo of all those turntables lined up.

Since you are also a dealer for SME, have you done an comparisons? I wonder how this Sparta .5 compares to the new SME Model 15 (both suspended), or the Sparta 1.0 to the Model 20/3. It looks like the arm has an SME mount so direct comparisons could be carried out pretty easily using the same arm/cartridge/cable.

I recently heard a Kronos Pro with the Magico M Projects. What a great system. The Kronos Pro replaced a TW Akustics TT and the system gained lots of weight, resolution and foundation. Really impressive with the Kronos and Black Beauty arm.

The Kronos Pro is THE best table I have ever heard. I have a limited but it is essentially a Pro as I have the new fancy motors that are in the Pro. There is no question I would take the Sparta over a 20/3. I think the 0.5 Sparta would compete nicely against the 20/3 and of course then there's the lovely AMG Viella to consider. The big advantage of the 0.5 is the ability to upgrade to a full Sparta. The advantage of the AMG is a world class performance and the ability to accomodate a 12" arm within its small footprint. The Sparta maxes out with a 10.5 and SME is designed with 9" in mind. The Viella also has an option to run a second 9" arm something neither the Kronos or SME offer. The SME's downfall is its an SME which can be turned around to be seen as it's strength, hopefully you get what I mean!

The Sparta is my fav as the dual rotating platters, something I was really negative about until I heard it, really really works.

But man so hard to say anything negative about all these tables, such great choices out there these days. With all three the 0.5/ Viella/ 20/3 all sounding so good, maybe buy the one you like the look of best.

Sorry for the boring, too politically correct post!

Any updates or listening impressions on the .5?

Thx!

I've heard the 0.5 many times. It's a terrific table in its own right. You can hear many of the great Kronos qualities (like the Helena arm) coming through. I love the fact that the entry to Kronos is made more reasonable with the 0.5. It's a brilliant concept. It allows the user, over time, to save and finish with a full blown Sparta. Of course the full blown Sparta adds all of the sonic benefits associated with the addition of the counter-rotating table, but the 0.5 is a great entry point with options down the road. [emoji106]
