Sound Quality Difference D2 vs T2

Since it’s been quite some time, I was wondering if anyone here has had experience with both the D2 and T2 as stand-alone streamer/DAC’s, and if you consider the $2200 difference worth it.
The addition of USB out to an external DAC on the T2 is nice, but if the sound by itself is truly considerably better than that of the D2 by itself, I would prefer the one piece approach.
I tend to really like the ESS Sabre “house sound”, but I must say that the Wolfsons in the D2 are growing on me.
Bottom Line: I appreciate the perspective of anyone who has experienced both.

This review of Lumin T2 compared it to T1, which was already a step-up from D2 / D1.
