well its no secret my love for sophia electric amplifiers. i will own a pair someday in the near future, as soon as i get some speakers that can handle 8 watts.
but until i was searching for 300b tubes for my amps i had no idea they also made vacuum tubes. and from the reviews i found on them, good ones too. so my next tube purchase will be a pair of these
6sn7's and 6sl7's they are priced well, for the top A grade(top 10%) they are $100 each . for the B grade the next 25% they are $80 each. and all the rest are $60.

Steve,

You are making me want those tubes. OMG! They look like jewels. :exciting:

hahaha!!! those are all so sweet, there are alot of good tubes out there these days. i want to try them all.
im sure you can find some you can use Joe
id love to see someone try those kt88's. they look incredible.
and Doug 845's??? you gotta try a pair. im going to get the psvane mesh plate 300b's to try first, while i save for the royal princess' . i will soon have more money in the tubes than i have in the amps.lmao!!! is that crazy??

thanks Steve!!! best name ever!!! lol. i love my cary's!!!

Steve - who makes their tubes? Are they made in the Shuguang factory?

For 6SN7's - I really like the old 1940 RCA's - but they are tough to find in good condition. Tube Depot may still have some old military grade NOS.

300B's....well, you know I've found my dream 300b! :)

im not 100% sure mike but i think they are made by sophia in virginia, at least thats the impression i get from the reviews and the results of people testing sophias against the shuguangs.
im going to get the psvane and the sophia 6sn7's and do some serious listening ,whichever i like better, i will then buy their top of the line 300b's. although the sophias are $100 less per pair of 6sn7's their flagship 300b is $300 more than the psvanes. maybe we can have a 300b shootout.lol. that would be cool, but very expensive :)

Those are nice too Steve. So will you be getting the 300b's with the mesh plates? Those are sweet tubes. :exciting:
i havent decided on which way to go yet. first pair of 300b's will be a shot in the dark. either the mesh plate psvanes or the mesh sophias. then my 6sn7 shootout will decide which way to go for the big money 300b's.
im 100% addicted now, and i want to try them all.lmao!!!

I am running these exact Sophia 6SN7 tubes in my ModWright LS100 preamp and ModWright Oppo 105. I purchased the highest grade versions from Galen Carol audio. They were a dramatic upgrade over the stock EH tubes that were furnished with the units. They are very clean, detailed, and dynamic - I highly recommend them!

nice i have some nos on the way now, and i already have some brimar nos in the amps.as soon a i hear them and get them settled, im going to buy these sophia 6sn7's and the psvanes as well. and do a whole month of serious testing. to find the best combos. on my amps 1 6sn7 on each amp is the input tube and one on each is the output. so i need to figure out which is best for input and output. and start a nice 6sn7 collection.
i just checked out galen carol audio . the 6sn7's are a couple $$ more than straight from sophia but the big 300b's i want are cheaper at galen carol. thanks for the idea. and the recommendation.

I have to disappoint you guys. Sophia Electric doesn't make tubes, but they do make tube amplifiers. They source their tubes from TJ Full Music and re-brand them. They are very nice tubes, actually I think based on my tests, they are the best new production tubes available if you are after modern/dynamic sound, but have to be very carefully screened (quality is very inconsistent) - that's what Sophia Electric does. Also, unfortunately Full Music 845 and 211 are not compatible with all amplifiers - they have a different heater current compared to Shuguang and NOS tubes. I'm posting reviews, as time goes and I burn in Full music tubes, on my site, check it out if you have time - www.tubemaze.info

Wow, I didn't realize that some of them tubes were quite expensive! ... $1,200/pair for the Royal Princess.

here ya go Bob, i think these are more collector items than tubes someone would use. i cant imagine there are a whole lot left. buy 2 hold on to them for a few years and sell em for $10k each lmao!!!!
