Some Strad Porn

Here are a few of my pictures, have had the Strads for 6 days. I scored a demo pair from a dealer near who is only open by appointment , they look perfect. I suspect by my serial number my pair are 10 years old, serial number 184. Is the age anything to be concerned about ? They sound excellent. I also have a mint pair of Guarneri Mementos I purchased from this dealer and I bought and still have a mint pair of Elipsa that I’m selling (bought the Elipsa new).

Congratulations! Beautiful speakers. Don’t worry about the age. If they look and sound great, that’s all that matters. I’m so happy for you. A true classic.

Beautiful....Congratulations!

Gorgeous setup. Re: age, no issues. Some argue, the earlier Strads, when Franco ran the show, sound best.

Beautiful room, wonderful speakers and superb combo! How I wish I had this room size. Congratulations and enjoy in good health!

Congrats again David. Your Strads look like they were built for that room.

Hi,

Just laid my eyes and ears on these, the 35th anniversary Strads, one half of 35 pairs made. This particular finish is the palladio as you can see and they make marvelous music. What I heard is that Sonus Faber used the original wood types, birch and maple, to get the best out of the construction as some of later productions had walnut as build material.
Did I say they sound fantastic, oh yes, and the midrange seem to benefit from the original building wood choices as compared to one of previous manufactured versions.

Except for the Vicenza stone phase plugs on the woofers, those look like the original Palladios.

Just acquired pair no. 19 of the 35th anniversary Stradivari production, new and unopened! Pictures will follow, stay tuned!
