Hi guys — I wanted to share an update.

Someone commented on my YouTube channel that because I haven’t produced a review video on a piece of gear fast enough, that must mean "I don’t like it and I decided to not review it".

First, I’m not paid to review gear, and I don’t have corporate sponsors writing me checks as a forum co-owner while I pretend to be neutral (note: I am NOT talking about AS as it is sponsor-free). I have no “masters” to please and no reason to hide whether I like or dislike something. I have ALWAYS called it as I see it and have never been paid a penny. Ever.

Second, this is a part-time hobby for me, not a paying job. I make content and posts when life allows and as I'm in the mood.

Third — and most importantly — I’ve been very open about the fact that the last six weeks have been dominated by a family emergency. My father-in-law suffered a heart attack, fell and hit his head, developed a brain bleed from the fall, and broke his neck. He is still in the hospital and is not recovering..

Right now, my first priority is supporting my wife in every way possible. And it's been stressful for sure. Seeing her so upset tears me up.

So please understand: if a video takes longer than expected, it does not mean I secretly hate the product. It means real life has taken priority.

I don’t mean this to sound snarky. I just wanted to explain.

HiFi matters to me. Family matters more.

Thanks for understanding.
