So, what do you do?

Mike, the company that now owns us is Parexel, a huge Clinical Research and Trials company. You may have heard of them? All of our software gets installed into Validated Environments so many similarities.

I have been practicing for my next job: "Would you like fries with that burger sir?" Or even more lucrative: "What's it going to take to put you in this new car today?"

Yes. Definitely a good company.

I began at a company called Ampex...back in the 70's. worked there for many years in "AVSD" ... Audio/Video Systems Division. as opposed to the other division of Ampex at the time making data storage devices. tape/disk/core. Ampex at the time built non-volatile memory based on tiny feritte cores.
..this was back in the day when those monstrous floor standing storage devices had a whopping 220 Mbytes per disk-pack. yee haa.

In the early days I did final testing of Ampex products in Colorado Springs prior to shipping to customers. "Quad" Vtrs, early Slo-Motion devices. 1" VTRs, Quad Cart machines etc...looking back it was a great time and I enjoyed every minute of it.

'been in the business ever since.. like all industries oh how things have changed. I'm still working for a California company, selling video servers for television production, TV Networks etc. etc.

..along the way I did get to work a lot on some Ampex Audio machines. Multi-Track as well as 2 and 4 track units.

...and the rest is even more history. :)

Lets see. I go fishing, I play at golf, I go boating, I take a few landscape photos for a hobby, I walk on the beach with my better half and we both enjoy the collection of old cars. PS: I'm retired and loving it

I am a carpenter by profession. My father was a carpenter/cabinetmaker and I followed in his footsteps. I have never had an actual job, always been self-employed. For the past twenty yrs. I have owned a business doing interior finish carpentry in custom homes.
I haven't been on the tools for 15 yrs. or so but I still love building things. I've been renovating our home for almost 20 yrs!

my Dad was a 3th gen carpenter/cabinetmaker and a GC, I was on jobsites as soon as I was old enough to push a broom. along the way I learned every trade involved in home const. learning a skilled trade prepared me for life in a way school/college didn't. I'm thankful my pop passed this on.

how about this: petroleum field engineer in charge of distribution.

he pumped gas.

I like it. And if playing with wood qualifies you as a carpenter, most men have been carpenters for many years.

You suck! :hey:

This April will mark 40 years in my career. I'm going to try and hang in there for two more years before I retire. My wife wants to move back to the east coast which may increase my desire to work longer.

Whereas I've almost got my wife convinced we should retire to Hawaii ;) It might actually be a few years after I retire depending on when that is.

Every day, clean the pool. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday- Golf. The other days, I do whatever my wife wants or repair/make/trade golf clubs.
