Shunyata Omega USB

There’s USB thread over on What’s Vest Forum that speaks to this.
I see the 8 cable shoot out but it doesn’t mention any of the Shunyata cables and how they would compare at all and the Shunyata threads don’t really compare to any other cables? Did I miss some other thread you found?

I meant the "USB cable recommended" thread. On the Shunyata Omega Cables thread, I wrote the following:

"I spent two periods with the Omega-X USB on loan this summer and reviewed it twice on the "USB Cable Recommended" thread. I won't repeat all the good things here, and there are a lot of them, but what decided it for me was its being emotionally laid back, sometimes a lot. That made it a great cable... for reading along to -- think quiet Sunday afternoon -- but not quite satisfying otherwise."

That's called damning with faint praise.

If one's taste is a relaxed, neutral sound, and they have a system that can take advantage of the many things the Omega-X does really well, then it's not damning at all.

Right now, I'm figuring out how my current stock of USBs -- the Synergistic Research SRX, the Signal Projects Andomeda and the much less expensive (and warm) Computer Audio Design version II-R cable -- fare with the QSA-Lanedri Discovery Veridion Power Strip that I have on audition (I've never kept a QSA-Lanedri audio cable, re their voicing, but for video the line is exceptional). This is on a run between SSD and highly modified digital only Oppo 203. Since this is a Shunyata thread, I'll leave it there.

For me, and in my system. YMMV.

I'm not disagreeing with your findings. I have never owned or heard any Shunyata cables in my system. I was just struck with the way you started off with some compliments and ended with unless you are reading on a quiet Sunday afternoon, it's not quite satisfying otherwise.

That is classic damning with faint praise! I personally find your observation funny. Anyone who shelled out $3,800 for that cable might feel differently.

Why don't you read what I wrote on the other forum site and judge for yourself. The cable is available from Cable Co. for audition.
