Shunyata Denali v2 vs. Everest

Hi Caelin and others,

how does Denali v2 compare with Everest in terms of bass performance?

I auditioned Denali v2 at my home and I like it a lot. However, I need 8 outlets and Everest would be a natural upgrade ;). However my room is not big and may get overloaded in bass quite easily, and I am concerned that Everest has more bass than Denali which will trigger further overload.

Hence I am contemplating Everest, but if it has more bass than Denali V2, I may have to go to Hydra Sigma (with 12 outlets).

Any advice will be appreciated.

I understand... what I meant is: if using the Everest leads to a wider dynamic range and potentially more punch in the bass, it may trigger room mode more easily, i.e. potentially more booming in bass....

Don’t expect it to provide any sort of EQ. Like Bud said, it will give you clean AC and I find more detail as a result is exposed. It also doesn’t take up shelf space which I love!

Bass performance is affected infinitely more by the relative position of the speakers to each other, and the walls, than by any power conditioner you might wish to try.

What Everest does is provide more definition, articulation, and accuracy and less "blur and slur" in the reproduction of bass notes and lower octaves. It doesn't result in more actual low-frequency acoustical energy into the room. So, Mike is 100% correct that that it Everest does not provide any bass or lower octave EQ.

And Brodricj is 100% correct that the speaker placement relative to each and in the room, and the acoustics and dimensions of the room overall has by far the most significant influence on overall bass output and energy.
 
I've had Everest installed for two days. Can't say it makes any difference at all. Which were the same findings when I first bought Denali 6000S/v1.
Denali was powering the whole system. Now it is only powering the main power amps and subwoofer. Everest is powering all the source components.
 
Give Everest about a week to settle and "burn-in". It just arrived off the truck, and all that vibation will impact performance.

To your point Puma Cat - I just received some new ribbon cables to try and the MFG said that although they burn them in at the factory, they still recommend I burn them in a bit on my end as the "jostling and vibration from shipping can set them back a bit sound wise".

That is correct. Components and cables, on average, can require 48-72 hours to "settle" after coming off the logistics truck. Some omponents, depending on the type, can take even longer. Master (word) clocks can take a really long time. When I got my AfterDark clock, they told me it would take the better part of a month to settle fully. This a primary reason why systems at audio shows sound better on Sunday afternoon compared to Friday morning.
 
I've reverted to a more conventional installation of Everest. Powering the Halcro main power amps, Magico subwoofer, the HT paraphernalia including Kaleidescape server and disc vault, and the backbone networking infrastructure. If nothing else it is pure eye candy. The blue LED on Everest is a big improvement over the blue laser cannon in the Denali. And the surfacing of the Everest metalwork is almost velvet like. I'm very impressed with the build quality.

The Denali is now powering my Esoteric stack of source components.
