Greetings. I am a semi retired commercial photographer interested in DSD512 play back to add as third source for my hobbie. First is vinyl then high res streaming using Tidal and hopefully DSD512 if I can firgure it out. I hope to read other peoples experiences to see if its for me or not. Thanks !

Welcome. There isn’t a lot of DSD512 material out there, but there is some. Very few DAC’s can truly do DSD512. MSB, Esoteric can. You generally want to buy a DAC from a proper DAC company and not an amp company that happens to make a DAC (or have it made for them). Those are usually cookie cutter DAC’s and they are quite limiting in formats.

Hi Mike thanks. Yes its very difficult gathering the info. I have bits and peices. My primary source is vinyl then streaming using Tidal and a NAD M10 integrated amp. I wanted to add a source that could play DSD files hopefully using / extracting DSD from Hybrid SACD's. The idea was to use my Sony UBP-X700U universal player with an HDMI out through a HDMI to I2S/IIS Audio Extractor Digital Interface Converter w/ Optical & Coaxial ( see photo) then I need a DAC that has a varible HDMI pinout.... At that moment my head exploded and I gave up. I dont know what size DSD will be on the SACD and I dont know how to find a DAC that has the pinout and accepts whatever DSD that comes out from the SACD. Do you know of any other Forum that I might post this question to ? Thanks in advance....

I think I figuered it out. Ill use the Ifi Neo streamer as a DAC which will convert the DSD512 to analouge which my NAD amp will amplify. I am hoping Roon will work as the in-bettween the files and the DAC.
