I am sending a tonearm to be re-wired in Germany - what's the best way to ship it?

FedEx and UPS are very expensive ($275). USPS Express on the other hand is very reasonable ($80). For $90 more, USPS has a Guaranteed Service that uses FedEx trucks across the pond.

Any recommendations, Sharks?

USPS has delivered to India very reliably from the US - I can vouch for them on that.

DHL is also good being that they are based out of Germany.
However you have to check on local service which can be dodgy depending on your area.

I mostly use DHL in Europe, no problems so far.

On the other hand I once used regular postal service for a business document. As the express letter had not arrived after five days I started inquiring about its whereabouts. They could not locate it and told me all kinds of stuff. It was also reassuring to hear that a formal enquiry would take six weeks to complete.

The express letter finally arrived after fourteen days, no-one knew where it had been so long. Guess they delivered it by bike from one country to the other.

Thanks - DHL was in between USPS Guaranteed Delivery and the FedEx/UPS options.

I'm a little leery of regular Express air mail, Kuoppis, per experiences like yours.

USPS is almost always the least expensive option, but in my experience you get what you pay for. Their tracking service is significantly lacking compared to DHL.
