Shindo Aficionado - Help

So Westminister Royal GR is 8ohm, not dropping below 5ohm! How did the
DYQ's do with them?

Excellent match IMO.

I just don't have enough fund to buy whole set. Well I just can't.

that beautiful sounds I remember by my heart. Not by ears

It was great you were given the opportunity to try the combo. CDF is an excellent dealer.
Perhaps your speaker likes a bit more power than the Cortese or CV391. If you could stretch
for the amps now, it may be best in your case. Danny is extremely helpful, and I'm sure he
can explain how the Shindo amps differ sonically.

I am currently using a Monbrison with Dy'Quems, and it's a great combination. Then when the
time is right, the V/R and Giscours will be there….

The Shindo dealers i know all offer full tradein policies. This encourages a slow development over time which is good.

Buy a Masseto and amp (try several of the stereos) and start there- you may never need more. The amps are diff tastes, not necessarily better or worse.

Btw, Is there an Audion dealer near you?

Cool. The D'Yquem's had no problem to drive my Westies. We couldn't even turn more than 8 oclock position. I thought the CV 391 has more power at 20 watts. Yes I do understand the difference of 300B .

Graeme and Jeniffer came over to my house and yes they were great help and very knowledgeable ppl as well.

What kind of speakers do you have ?

Jerome is here ;)

I was waiting for you to chime in. :)

Do you think VR is good pre as well ? I might go with that and go with little cheaper amps. such as courtese or Montille 391( Not 6V6 )

Hi Paul,

I did not try the VR. I went straight to the Giscours so no more upgrade since the Petrus is out of budget for me.

Paul, reading the Stereophile review of Art Dudley of the VR, it is obvious that the VR is a terrific preamp.

No. Only one dealer in 5 hours away.
Are they share the same house sounds on amp though ?

They make a great PP 300B and 845 amplifier. Also at a lower price that may interest you. The other company that makes great SET (and is Canadian, so local) is Wyetech Labs- I'd def hunt one of those out and hear it as well. The Topaz is supposed to be wonderful.

In general, Shindo and LM Audio are on on the more vintage side of the spectrum whereas Audion and Melody are a bit more modern sounding on the other. Cary is on the very warm side, while KR Audio is on the cool (and some say SS) side. It would be cool to find out which you prefer and the best match for the Tannoys.

Enjoy the journey,

KeithR
