Dre, I cant argue with your statement :D

btw, what's the copper foil for on the skala?

Glad you enjoyed the photo Rob.

The Skala was part of a characterization test case/exercise that involved the copper foil and some other stuff. Nothing special...

BTW, that Jan Allerts is MASSIVE! Like a cartridge on steroids. Setting that up must be a bitch!

Does it hit the record clamp too? :(

Myles,
The Allaerts is pretty straightforward to set up. Doesn't get near my Viella's spindle clamp though it did make me sweat once when I tried a rim clamp on the S7 and it made contact!
The Allaerts finish is a fabulous cartridge though it needs a quiet high gain pre to really shine.

Agree yes indeed !---I had the Allaerts in an Ittok/LP12 and Hovland Phono Cable

Superb cartridge--full bodied( sorry pun!) sonics--smooth and virtually grain free

Highly recommended

Hi Myles. As some of the others have mentioned. No problems with clamps/weights (Basis Reflex, Feickert, J.R. Transrotor, Basis vacuum puck, and my Galibier Anvil) in any situation. The cartridge make it to the run-out groove without issue.

Setup is not that bad. Of course, a microscope helps zero in on SRA. :) Without it properly set, the cartridge can sound too soft/smooth/sweet/etc...

I forgot to respond to this comment above. The outer body is aluminum and used for RFI shielding. It is like a very light shell surrounding the cartridge. The Allaerts is the second lightest cartridge (behind the Colibri) in my picture followed closely by the Skala. Although it looks huge, there are 5 other cartridges in the photo that are heavier.

Beautiful!

Makes me think about having seven tonearms... No wait. Never mind. If that were the case, I wouldn't get to practice my setup skills as often.
