Good morning,

We all know how to buy vinyl from a variety of sellers (Ebay, vinyl sites, etc.) and can often buy new from Amazon, Fry's, etc. But scoring pristine originals can be a bit of work but very rewarding when you score. Your local Goodwill is probably not a good source as that is like trying to find a diamond on a beach full of sand.

Tell people you know and work with about your hobby. You would be surprised how many will tell you they have a bunch of vinyl in boxes, in the garage, in the attic. Are they all good ? Hell no...but occasionally you bump into someone who WAS an audiophile years ago, lost interest, went digital and stored the stuff away like gold.

That is what happened to me yesterday. I co-worker I speak with occasionally approached me. Several months ago I gave him some sweet Marshall Tubes for his Marshall guitar amp. He remembered and told me he would bring me some albums to go through. I always take that with a grain of salt due to unknown condition but yesterday, he gave me 4 boxes of albums (maybe 40 per box) to go through, pick what I want and he would sell the rest.

Holy Cow ! 4 boxes of PRISTINE vinyl. Over 90% looked unplayed - EVER - Another 5% maybe dirty and the last 5% with some scratches. I went through the boxes (I only pick or keep what I will listen to, I don't collect just to have) and found 28 albums I wanted - MINT condition, play awesome.

So my point is, there is a lot of gold out there..you just have to know how to mine it :D

Nice rob!!! I need to get some records. I just got all this gear together and I'm real bored of my record selection. I need to stop working so hard and stop buying equip and start focusing on record collection.
