I listed several of other headphone amps I have owned in the previous thread so no need to reiterate it here.

I was so impressed with the lower Schiit amp I had to try their new top model headphone amplifier, the Mjolnir 3. It is pure Class A, dual power supply, dual chokes, dual mono, fully balanced amp, built like a brick. The amp can be switched to push-pull Class A instead of pure Class A if you want. You can also use Feedback or none if you prefer via another front panel switch. I like that you can even turn off pre-amp outs. Very nice quality switches by the way.

Wow, this amp is amazing. I pick it over every other one I have heard. Such detail, but also very open sounding. Imaging off the charts. So smooth and inviting. I have never heard my Abyss sound better! This is 100% an end game amp!

The only real problem is that it runs really hot. It also has some weight to it. Since it was released Schiit has been running a month or two behind. They just can't build them fast enough. This should be improving soon from what I heard.

Well, it's Class A, so it's going to run hot. I've had and used Schiit Audio products for well over a decade now. They are very well designed, very well-engineered, and built to a high engineering specification, and sound...great. I still own their Valhalla 2 tube headphone amp, and used to own the first Bifrost DAC, and then their Gungnir Multibit DAC, which was was excellent. I used that as my DAC for over 5 years.

Earlier in the year, I went down to the Can Jam that was held in San Jose, which Schiit sponsored, and provided a lot of gear for folks to use at their headphone booths. I heard their little Modi Multibit 2 DAC, which sells for only $299. It's an amazing DAC for that price. I also listened to their fully-loaded Ragnarok 2 integrated amp with it's built-in phono stage *and* true Multibit UNISON DAC, and for $1299, I was VERY impressed with it, also.

I think very highly of this company because it's founders, Mike Moffat and Jason Stoddard really know what they're doing as audio engineers. And, because Schiit sells direct, they can build products to a very high engineering specification and still have prices that represent excellent value propositions (where Value=Quality/Price).

If I was going to put together a second system, e.g. for an office or bedroom, I'd likely get the Ragnarok 2 integrated amp and call it a day. Pair it with a set of GR-Research X-LS Encore speakers, and you'd have superb system that does all the right things for less than two grand.

What's not to like?
