Getting back into high end rekindled my love for listening to live music. I've been to a number of concerts this year, including my fav, Sinead O'Connor at the City Winery.:) She was just awesome!

Running a very close second is Sarah at the Beacon Theater. OMG, what a concert! 25 songs from across her entire catalog, including many of my wife and mine favorites. And she has such a warm, personable stage presence! If you are a Sarah McLachlan fan, go and see her live. She is amazing!

A few YouTubes to try and capture the performance. Enjoy!

Building a Mystery:

Angel (part of the encore):

Ice Cream (audience sing-along):

At two times during the show, Sarah invited some lucky guests to the stage with her while she answered some questions sent in from the web. This is the first time. Not sure if you can hear clearly, but the last couple that got introduced said they actually got married because of Sarah: they met 13 years ago at one of her concerts.

Thanks for sharing. She is gifted. Saw her a few times many many years ago in Canada. She still rings true Canadian.

Saw her Tu. night at the Beacon too. Didn't get the nice pics you did since we were sitting a little further back. :)

Loved the concert though would have liked a little more older tunes from her. I'm not all that in love with Shine On and like the melodic lines of her older songs.

My other nit pick why does she have to use all that hideous reverb? I know it's her schtick but why? A little more judicious due of echo? I'd like to hear more of her great voice.

Oh, didn't you want to sit on her living room couch and ask her a question about the importance of the sound of her releases? :) Well maybe it was just the audiophile in me rearing its ugly head! :)

I saw Sarah back in June. She played and looked great!

Sarah has such a warm and genuine smile. Her voice was amazing!

I absolutely love her. Thanks Allen.

+1, Joe. I don't think I would have said that before the concert, but now...:heart:

She seemed so down to earth at the show. Wonderful lady!

Myles, I don't recall hearing a lot of reverb at the concert. You talking about her albums? If so, totally agree. The less production to her beautiful voice the better! And I like her older material better, too, though Shine On is definitely growing on me.

re: audiophile rearing its ugly head: kept thinking the venue sounded a little bright, and during one song, the bass just overpowered her voice and you can barely hear her sing. But overall, it was a great night. My wife's favorite concert.

I was actually sitting in the loge, so I really that close. My Sony camera just has a great zoom!:P

One of my favs. I have not heard Shine On yet, but I did not like the album prior to it. I'm much more into her earlier works. I was never able to see her live although I have some DVD concerts of hers of course.
My live days are over as of a few years ago. These days it's just too pricey and nobody to go with.

Love Sarah!!! My first serious fray back into audiophile land was around the time of MirorBall.... Good choice Allen.

Thanks, Kev. Mirrorball is a great album.

I tried to get tix for Kimbra, but no seats at this venue so that's not going to work for my bad back...

I got turned on to Sarah with her Touch CD back in 1988. I was at some local concert (can't remember if I was scouting or working with one of the bands). Anyway, the sound guy put on Sarah McLachlan Touch album for pre show and at first track I just about fell out of my chair. I ran back to the sound guy and asked him what he was playing. I ran right out the following week and got a copy.
My favs are: Touch, Solace, Fumbling Toward Ecstacy, Rarities & B-Sides, Surfacing and Mirrorball.

I also like her CDs because of all the easter eggs she puts on them. (About half of them), extra tracks, hidden tracks, videos, you name it. I have to go back through and check which albums have what though as I forgot. (That's another project I need to do for a few other artists as well). She's a giver.

I didn't dig how her marriage worked out though. Ashwin Sood is a fantastic drummer. Really too bad he is not with her anymore.

Back at the radio station I tried to get my boss to play her and never could (I even brought in some of my own CDs of her). I also never understood why not because she fit the format nicely.
