I used to own one of these back in the day. The arm is surprisingly good with a properly matched medium-low compliance cartridge. Check to ensure that the arm bearings feel tight with no play, and the other thing to check is for any audible rumble from the direct drive motor when tracking a record. If those check out and the quartz lock circuit is still good (showing a perfectly stable strobe pattern when locked) then you should be good to go. The $600 price is a bit high since the blue book shows it at $440, but if it's a particularly clean sample in perfect operating condition it could still be worth it.
