Samsung's new Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

David..We all have our biases.

I've lived and worked with all 3 platforms. All have their strengths and weaknesses.

The Samsung Galaxy platform is great device technology. Is the device as robust as Samsung claim it to be? Are Samsung good with warranty, exchange and refunds? Or are they a company that prefers to pass user blame and deny warranty claims?

The Microsoft platform is also excellent and highly configurable. Especially for people with special ease of access needs. I'm confident, Microsoft will hit the ball out of the park with Surface Phone when it is released. Remember, the hardware is built on top of acquired Nokia hardware. Nokia had a strong reputation for reliability. Microsoft service is excellent.

Next time you see an elderly person using an Apple iPhone, ask them how user friendly it actually is for their vision and tactile coordination....

As a matter of fact both my parents and grand parents DUMPED the SamDung and bought iPhone's and iPads because they hated both the quality of Samdung and Android OS. They LOVE the quality and ease of use/intuitive use of the IOS and most importantly, Apple support is kind and supportive.

Yep, I asked.

OMG... my life assistant [she age 54, ancient] that manages things for me...she had [maybe tossed in her closet now] a Samdung phone. She couldn't even use it. It frustrated her so much...she struggled every step of the way to text, answer the phone and send photos. I bought her an iPhone. Problem solved.

I love my Samsung S6, or could it be I like the Android operating system and how they enable all brands to enjoy their software products? Probably both. the Samsung Camera is also extremely good.

My work has given me a Apple iphone 5 and I hate it, so it sits in the draw and I paid for my Samsung S6. - hate itunes and everything it stands for in the Apple only communist ecosystem. Apple reminds of how huge Sony used to be with their only Sony can license betamax technology.

But my wife and kids love their iphones, so no big deal overall really. :exciting:

And not a Samsung fanboi, as I hate their TV's with their atomic blast cartoon brightness.:celebrate008_2:

the new S7 looks excellent, however too similar to the S6, so not desire for me to change.

Yes Apple have great customer service also. USA companies know how to deliver proper customer service experiences.

I don't agree that IOS translates to ease of access on the iPhone footprint for the elderly and physically challenged. Why don't you ask Siri! :roflmao:

54, Ancient? I'm surprised she hasn't slapped you in the face and walked out with those derogatory stereotypes. 54 is young and barely middle aged. Not even a snow leopard yet. I bet she could teach a young and inexperienced whipper snapper like you a thing or two.

Indeed the median age here is a senior audience.

Pimping wealth is sooooo uncooool.

Ask a 74 year old, which smartphone they prefer. It will be a Samsung Galaxy.

She isn't closed minded, thank, gawd. She is hip and fresh...and as a matter of fact here with me laughing at your post. We both are. LOL

In the end, youth rules regardless of any argument. You can't buy it and you can't argue it. What's missing? Paypal/ATM/whatever and can be purchased. 'BOOM'

Oh, pimping a grandpa/parent is sooooo uncooool.

Well, I'm younger than your Life Manager. I'm glad she is able to tolerate your level of maturity. I suppose that is her professional specialisation that presents its own unique challenges.

David/Steve

Please tread lightly. I do not want any flare ups here. Mike is on vacation.

Thanks!

Steve......
These days, what exactly does security and privacy really mean? The Federal Government and National Defense contractor's computers are routinely hacked by China and who knows who else. Large corporations like IBM are being hacked. Am I to believe my lowly cellphone is somehow invincible?

Dan...That's a great question with many facets. I know this one thing for certain. I look at my corporate firewall daily. There is a very real cyber-cold-war out there. Despite some of the recent negative press in relation to US Federal Privacy and security encroachment, the overall Australian consensus is that our national security interests are strategically aligned with its US ally.

The question about telecommunications data protection is one that is becoming increasingly more complex.

The Lady here was similarly issued with Apple IOS devices. She still likes her Apples but has been increasingly frustrated by performance/features lately. Often I see her dropping the Apple in favour of a Windows 10 device when she needs to get something out in a hurry.

IOS is still very strong when it comes to social media and that's when the Apples here come out to play.

I also prefer to pilot my drone with an iPad and this is such an example of vested vendor investment for IOS.

Both Android and IOS still have greater application maturation levels but vendors are increasingly porting their applications to run on Windows 10 Phone as well.

I have to say that technically, IOS is around a couple of years behind the other two in every respect.

Don't get me started on Samsung Televisions! I couldn't agree more. :)

Dan, I say buy what you want.

Regarding security and privacy no device or person is safe. The Gov has been hacked, states rev systems have been hacked, large banks have been hacked, Health Insurance companies, department stores, J.P. Morgan, Sony even Chick-fil-A- has been hacked etc. If you got something to hide, well smoke and mirrors still work. If you don't have anything to hide, enjoy whatever you purchase.
