I brought the new Samsung Galaxy S7 home yesterday. It is the Gold Platinum version. Setup was a breeze. The box contained a small micro USB to full sized USB adapter that allowed me to plug my Samsung Galaxy S5 directly into the Galaxy S7 and transfer files, photos, videos, and apps without issue. The process was painless and took less than five minutes. The 32GB is a nice amount of internal memory. After everything I moved to the new S7, plus the new Android operating system, I am at 9.2GB used. I installed a 64GB micro SD card in it for extra storage. The S7 supports up to 200GB in the micro SD slot. That's serious storage capacity for a cellphone. Once all my files, photos, contacts, and apps were transferred to the new phone it took me a few hours to clean up my contacts and email addresses, cull my photos, set up several email accounts, get signed into other apps, arrange icons the way I want, set up my fingerprint security and adjust other setting to customize the S7 to my satisfaction. I also checked for updates and one was available so I downloaded and installed it.
The Galaxy S7 is blisteringly fast. The new Snapdragon processor flexes it muscle without breaking a sweat. I had five apps open at once and moved between them without a seconds delay. The phone supports split screen. You can manage two open apps on the screen at the same time, including resizing and minimizing the apps to icons that then float on any page you might be on and can be reopened with a tap.. The fingerprint scanner is excellent. Once set up you simply place your finger on the home button and the phone unlocks immediately. No more dragging your finger across the fingerprint reader. It is a much better implementation of the fingerprint scanner than previous versions and stores four separate fingerprints. There are so many unique and useful features available on this new phone. It will take me time to master the ones I want to use but it is great fun to play with the features. Did I say the Galaxy S7 is a beauty? It is quite alluring. The phone is built to a higher degree of fit and finish from higher quality materials than my Galaxy S5. It feels comfortable in your hand and the narrower width makes holding it and carrying it in a front pocket much more convenient. It also comes with a fast charger. When I plugged it into the S7 yesterday the battery was at 24%. It charged the battery to 100% in an hour and a half. The S7 also supports fast wireless charging. I am now considering purchasing the Samsung Wireless Fast Charger.
This is fun phone to own and use. I took several photos today inside and outside. The sharpness, detail, and color look excellent in both low light and bright daylight. The S7 camera, with it's large assortment of control features, creates amazing photography for a cellphone. The operating system was intuitive, especially moving from the Samsung S5 after two years. Coming up to speed on the new S7 was simple without having to read the User's Manual. I downloaded the manual for reference and will eventually get into it to discover the buried treasures. So far I could not be happier with the new Samsung Galaxy S7. I placed my order for the new Spigen Neo Hybrid case and should have it in a couple of days. The Samsung Galaxy S7 is a remarkable product.
