Has anyone had the opportunity to own or listen to Salk speakers. Looking to add the Soundscape 8 to my short list.

I see nothing but positive reviews online but it's a challenge to audition since they are a factory direct purchase.

Thanks!

Jim Salk builds some nice speakers, using top components and has excellent cabinet work not to mention great service. He has a sponsor page over at Audio Circle. There is an owner audition post there that provides town and state and speakers owned for other people to hear.

Thanks so much Chris!

I heard a couple models at Axpona, I remember they sounded good, really too long to compare to anything for you. He also had a set of powered speakers said to sell about $2500.00 that were outstanding.

Like Chris said the best source of information on all things relating to the creations of Jim Salk and Dennis Murphy is Audio Circle. Member ICTWoody has owned several Salk's and now owns one of Dennis' own speakers. Try PMing him and see what he has to say. It seems that cabinet finishes are only limited by what is on hand at suppliers. Also many of his models can either be front or rear ported depending on the demands of your room.

I heard the Exotica 3's (powered bass, ~$12k/pr) at Newport 2015, and was very impressed. I liked them much better than any other Salk speakers I've heard at shows.

That's quite an impressive looking and spec'd speaker and considering the price of some of the speakers models thrown about here reasonably priced. If you bought the Soundscape 8's and a pair of matching Salk subs you would be at the same price point and it would be a matter of which would be easier to work into your room. Would be an interesting comparison between the Soundscapes and my KO's.

Thanks Jack! Checking out the site now!

I know this thread is a bit old but I do have some Salks, The little WOW1's, great little bookshelf speakers, my pick over the more common KEF LS50's. Also have a Salk Sub with Rythmik internals. What Jim can and will build for you is only limited by your imagination.
