I new a dealer who caused a big fuss by saying the #3 speaker sounded better than the #5. Just to further confirm your #3 impressions.
...Overall I really enjoyed the setup and especially the S3s. It really filled a 17x28x9 room wonderful music!:audiophile: But as always, YMMV!

Oh, 17x23x8. Why do you ask?!![]()
It seems like we heard similar things with the similar gear. It's strange I liked the S3 so much with Spectral but the same gear with the Q series left me a bit cold.
I did like the S5s quite a bit when heard at Bob's (and even Ears Nova). The S3 has a lot of what the S5 has to offer but that S3 enclosure really has done some magic to sweeten that midrange up.
it was big 10 years ago- JTinn distributed the OTL amps. the 75 monos were very nice sounding and def the amp du jour, but had reliability issues. Kharma/Tenor was the magic combo. He took on DarTZeel and the rest is history.
I had the Kharma Tenor combo around that time and it was bomb proof, as did a friend. The tonal color of that OTL amp was wonderful. I can only imagine what the hybrid Tenor amp sounds like on the Magicos.Interesting, my now deceased friend Lars had the Tenor on his Verity with nary an issue.
I LOVE those Tenors (aesthetically at least - never heard them). Must be the most beautiful looking amps ever (imo of course).
Rather than flying down for a visit Ian, I guess I should have driven with one in my trunk!
