S.E.T. - I am obsessed now ....

I love my 300b SET amps. Once getting a taste of these there was no going back to high powered soulless amplifiers.

I used to own a Quicksilver SET before I traded for my mid-mono's. For the price that SET was pretty nice, nice sound... I know the Quicksilver is not pretty or "high end" but a person gets a lot for the money including sound.
 
Trenner and Freidl are good stuff. I recall meeting one of the partners in Zurich 2012. I think Andreas Freidl?

The small monitor they make is great (ART).
 
I like that thing. Of course, I have no clue what it sounds like having only heard one tube item (a phono preamp) in my life, but if they throw some brass on there to give it kind of a steampunk feel, I'd be all over it. Well, if I had the required clam shells that is. (Not going to happen in my lifetime, having that kind of scratch I mean. As for hearing a tube amp, I hope to someday just so I can have a frame of reference at least).

Thank you Eric. With the right speakers it can be amazing. There seems to be more of an emotional connection to the music now. I hope, at some point, you'll be able to hear what I am hearing. Not sure you'll like it but what the heck, I do :)
 
I heard my first SET amps 17 years ago. Been hooked ever since, but it took me until 2004 to get my current SET and speaker combo. I've had it for 10 years, longer than any other amp/speaker combo. No interest in changing.

Hmm, I wonder if my Paradigms would be good with something like that, not sure. However, I know my vintage DCM Timeframes would be just judging by how they act with my Sansui 8080 a solid state that sounds all warm and silky. I'm told that's what tubes sound like.

An emotional connection with the music any way you can get it, is the ultimate goal! For me fortunately I guess, it's easy because I go straight into the music itself. The better the system, the easier and stronger it can be.That said though, the real connection to the music is with the mind and the heart and listening to what is happening and what the artist is conveying, which in reality can be done with ear buds let alone anything else. However, it is even more enjoyable with good gear.
I'd like to hear what your hearing since I've never heard it. That's the only way to know. Perhaps if I attend the SHOW in June I'll hear something of the type at least.
 
My current speakers were demo'ed for years at shows paired with electronics from Triode Corp. including their 845-based SET amps. This year Robert Lee is showing them paired with some tiny Class D amps (connected wirelessly to the source components). Both systems have garnered consistent praise from reviewers and show-goers, so I don't know...
 
I bet those tiny CLass D amps kick some serious ass.
 
Oh yes. I thought that they were wonderful before. Now, holy cow, so much better. You'd be blown away at how wide, deep and layered everything sounds. I wish you were here to hear it.

Wow! Me too! Yes, careful Joe, if you were floating up towards the ceiling before, now I can picture your wife asking if monsieur will be coming down for dinner or staying up there. LOL!
 
Ha!

The only reason I can squeeze out this gear is because I'm still single. I do have to peel myself off the ceiling at night so I can get to bed. Life is good. :)
 
Hahahahaha.

You have the all tools now...just tweak it to the extreme to extract every once of performance out of it.
