RIP. Great artist, his passing is a huge loss to the jazz community.

Heard the news on the radio on my way home from the Capital Jazz Fest yesterday. Really bummed about this. He was one of my favorite trumpet players. Saw him at Blues Alley a couple of years ago. RIP, Mr. Hargrove.

Oh my God!!
This really touches me...
I was lucky enough to see him in the beginning of his career, and was planning on seeing him again.
I will have to stay with the fine memory I have... :tears:

Roy was a breath of fresh air among the young lions of the early 90s! I was fortunate enough to be living in Greenwich village at that time and my wife and I frequented the village vanguard often to see him (even on Christmas Day one year!), and he played in Slide Hampton’s jazz masters big band there once which was awesome, with cohorts Antonio hart and David Sanchez. What a talent, he will be missed.

When I saw him, it was also with Antonio Hart.
Indeed, sorely missed...

Hargrove is one of my favorite trumpeters as well. I always assumed he was older though, by the style of music and the first album I heard by him was Public Enemy, when I went to get my copy it was out of print, so I had to settle for a used one.

You never know what's lurking inside, always good to get your check ups and stick to doctor's orders.
