I have just downloaded the Roon software from their website on a Trial basis. Out of the box - unbelievable . It found my entire library on NAS , all my devices, including my Meridian Sooloos system . Completed the scan and the GUI is better than anything I have seen. DSD is not supported but coming . More to the point , the sonics are clearly better than using Audirvana or Puremusic as players and leagues ahead of iTunes . Full Tidal support and Integration is built-in.

Deserves it's own Thread . So far - very impressed

How did you point it to your Sooloos? I added the IP address but that didn't work.

It should just find it without you having to ado anything else. Go to Settings , Audio - you should see your Sooloos listed there

It say's I have no music and then it has a screen to "Add a Folder" or Add a Network Folder" or a drag and drop to "Copy Music"

I cant seem to get my dac to play back any of my files at the proper resolution. There isn't anything in the AUDIO settings, (that I can see) that allows up scaling etc. Everything played back thru my LUXMAN DA 06 DAC shows as 48, not 44.1 or 88, or 192, etc. The system information (under the album being played) shows the correct resolution, but for some reason the LUXMAN is only seeing 48 for all formats. Any thoughts ?

If you're using a Mac , check your Audio MIDI Setup and ensure you have completed quit from iTunes or any Music players you are using . Try using Exclusive Mode in Audio Settings in Roon.

What a great app! Haven't done much SQ comparison, but so far, the interface is tops, a joy to use!
I could only hope Apple buys them, and makes this their next iTunes :)

I am using windows 8.1 and also have JRiver but I don't have JRiver open when I am using Roon. I also have Tidal running thru Chrome and I noticed the same thing when I first started using Tidal (everything thing shows up as 48....but when I use a Mac in our second demo room Tidal plays back at 44.1) I did switch to exclusive mode in the Audio section of Roon and sound quality apparently is better but the Luxman dac still shows everything being played back at 48. I also notice under the audio settings (which are minimal on Roon) that Jriver 20 shows up under system output (as I that is what I normally use.) There are settings to that allow you to enable the "exclusive" mode for JRiver. Still everything plays back at 48. When I do use Jriver I do not have this issue. Only when Roon is being used. Does anyone know what is the purpose of having JRiver associated with Roon under system output in the audio section settings?

This is the JRiver WDM driver.
If you set this to default audio device in Win anything playing (web, Tidal, etc) will be using the JRiver audio engine.

THANKS. Was able to cofigure it that way and it is now playing back with the correct resolutions. I did try to use the DSP engine in JRIVER to upscale to DSD (VIA DOP), but there are constant drop outs, like the music is cutting out. THE LUXMAN DAC ( DA 06) can do DSD. Any clue as to what setting (if any) in JRIVER that would eliminate this issue ( i am using JRIVER MC 19). I keep hearing good things about HQ PLAYER (sound quality) and there are a few postings on the ROOM forum that indicate they (ROON ) may try to have HQ player as part of the ROON package.
CHEERS.........T

I'll see if I can get one of the Roon guys to start posting here...

As a Sooloos user for years, I really love what they've done with this and that I'm no longer linked to Meridian hardware!
