Hey guys, anyone come across the annoying Roon "Media loading slowly" errors which seem to be sporadic and intermittent, at least on my computer. Roon will typically start a track and within 3 seconds drop out and attempt to start the next, etc... Anyone have any advice on how to resolve this? My CPU and Memory seem to be OK and not overloaded and my internet speed and networking with the Bryston streamer are fine as well.
Thanks

Yes, but my ISP was having problems. My download speed was 1.4Mbps when this happened. Fixed now, speed back to normal (20Mbps) for my location in the boondocks where I am fortunate to have it at all. Roon is a delight with Tidal and Qobuz as my primary source and everything works well 99% of the time.

Maybe an update is needed to software or firmware especially in the case if your using Apple.

This is true. What kind of computer are you using? Have you ran a good virus scanner? Especially true for Apple because Apple users tend to think they are immune when in actuality they are very susceptible. The main reason that many virus writers tend to go after PCs first is that most enterprise type businesses use Windows, but Apples can and do get infected, many times at a higher rate since Apple is so proprietary that there is not a plethora of scanners available.

If it were me, I'd begin by power cycling your networking equipment. Also, if you've been adding/deleting a lot of music lately, you should re-index your library.

The Roon forum is an excellent resource. Lots of helpful contributors/users plus factory tech support.

Never had that problem either. How complicated is your digital setup?

This morning it was running fine again after I rebooted the computer. I noticed that often when these errors occur, the cpu seems to go into overdrive as the fan kicks on to max airflow so there must be something loading it up. I am inclined to say it is computer related at this point but I have no idea what it may be. The computer is older but it was a great spec Alienware Andromeda R5 gaming rig from approximately 7 years ago and has been flawless all these years for anything I throw at it. I7-3770 CPU at 3.4GHz with 16 Gigs of ram. Roon however has been acting up on it from time to time. Oh well, nothing lasts forever and I will be looking into a new computer soon I guess. Thanks for the replies guys!

My Roon Core runs on a Nucleus+. Other than an outright hardware failure (which Roon CS fixed quickly, even though I was the 2nd owner)) I have never had a computer problem. The problems I read about almost always occur when the Core runs on something else. If you are a computer geek, which I am not, these problems are seemingly resolved by the user. If you want Roon without problems, I highly recommend the Nucleus, although other dedicated , single use hardware options (NUC) seem to be available.

It is probably time to run a complete restore on the computer. The computer is certainly capable enough to run Roon without issues but after seven years virtually any computer should be given a full refresh. I would be shocked if that does not complete resolve you issues.

In Roon settings for Library, turn down the Background Audio Analysis Speed.

Your Roon Core computer must not be using WiFi.

Had the exact same problem. Ran Speedtest and I’m downloading at 300mb/s.

Rebooted the computer, restarted the modem.. still happened. For some reason about 30 minutes later it fixed itself.

you must check the cause of the problems first, replacing your pc does not mean Roon is getting to work.

borrow first a laptop/pc and check if the issues are solved

Interesting, I use a nucleus with an Ipad and android phone and often trying to use the ipad i'll get dropouts. The black box with yellow type saying playback failed so I put down the tablet pick up the android phone and using it to select albums I get problem free playback.
