Who has Rogue gear? Cronus or Tempest?

I see several hits from Google of people pairing Rogue with Harbeth. Anyone hear have both or just Rogue gear you can comment on? Price seems right.

Thanks,

Brian

im not much help because i dont remember the model, but i heard some rogue integrated before that was sweet, it kinda looked like the pharaoh but i dont think it was.
never heard it with harbeth. but a very nice integrated.

The Tempest looks just like the Pharaoh and the Cronus is mostly an open tube design. Thanks for the input.

Are you going to schedule a demo in Lakewood? I am shooting for the week of July 4 while near you. Our friends sold the house on the ocean in Spring Lake and bought a nice on on Manesquan River in Brick, so that is where I will be for the week.

Brian,

I had the Atlas Magnum but with KT-90 not the new KT-120. Atlas_Magnum

It was a great amp with the KT-90 and think it will be even better with the KT-120. The holes for the tubes on mine were not sized with KT-120 in mind so I could not even try unless I took the cover off. Rogue makes superb gear and I would not hesitate to use them with Harbeth. I put my CJ gear on my 30.1's and had to turn everything off to get some sleep. Harbeth and tubes is stunning.

ps I also had M-120 Rogue monos years ago and they were amazing as well.

Thanks, Joe. That gives me a few more lower priced options but it seems odd to get speakers costing twice what the gear driving them cost. But then again, I have always heard to buy the most speaker you can, then build up around them.

Looks like the Atlas is the Cronus without the pre section.

I definitely see your point but Rogue may be inexpensive but it's not cheap. It's an amazing value and sounds wonderful. I've used expensive gear on inexpensive speakers and expensive speakers with inexpensive gear. It all depends on the gear. I've had great results both ways. It all depends.

Helpful as always, Joe!

I know what you are saying. I am surprised greatly when running my old JM Lab Tantal 509s thru my main rig. Amazing what good electronics do to mediocre speakers. As long as it works the other way around......:). I am sure the Leben would be a better unit, but close to 3x the cost and 1/4 the power.

Thanks Doug.

Brian,

Some Harbeth need 25 wpc minimum and most need at least 50 wpc to come alive. Don't shortchange the watts. In this case more is a good thing.

My 275 wpc ART monos woke up the 30.1 like crazy. It was/is glorious.

You can always count on Joe for amp advice. He's the AS amp guru. :)

Yeah, as much as I like what I read about the Leben, I don't think it is enough power unless using speakers 90db and higher.

I just found a place about an hor and a half from me, in Allentown that sells both Rogue and Harbeth. I just emailed for details and which models they have on display. It would be great to hear the speakers with one of my real amp options together. That place HighStrungAudio is very odd to say the least and looks to be more someones pet business than a real full blown audio shop. The craigslist add I saw using HiFiShark searching for Rogue found this place in Allentown but no name, i did find addy and phone number but also emailed.

By the way, I love HiFiShark Search Engine!

I have an Athena pre-amp, somewhere. great customer service, solid construction, nice sound. Once my man cave gets completed, I moving to a Rogue Cronus Magnum or a Hegal it all depends on the old wallet.

the part by where the rt70 bridge goes over the river? that is gorgeous in there, should have a good time there for the week.its my favorite part of n.j. the houses in that area are amazing. id try to make it for harbeths but ill be working my ass off that weekend. let me know what time and day when it gets closer.

3/4 of the way into Riverside Drive where the River Rock is. They got a large private dock just behind the Marina. I do think the majority of the houses you are thinking of will be my view. :) although the house our friends bought and a few others are really nice while the rest of that hood is working class $400K homes. Very pretty indeed but we are still shocked at the loss of the beachfront view but times and places change. I will ping you when I make a plan, i am thinking more the week after the 4th, wed/thurs.
