Mike,

The music in the ELAC Adante room sounds wonderful even on my iPhone. What’s your verdict on the ground?

Carlos - I heard the ELAC Adante prototypes at Munich. I sat through 2 songs, walked up to Andrew Jones and said, "how much? $35,000? $50,000?" He smiled and said "no. $5000 a pair."

I immediately signed up as a dealer and ordered two pairs.

My ELAC rep said the Adante's were delayed because Andrew was still improving them.

At RMAF, we got to hear the final version. It is improved even more still! The fit and finish is even nicer and it was already nice. The technology in the Adante is very cool. The drivers are actually hidden and isolated in the cabinet. What you see are passive radiators and a concentric driver.

After we listened to a few songs on the Adante's, I took Ken to a room with a pair of $40,000 speakers from a well know European speaker manufacturer. Without telling him the price, I asked which one he preferred better. He said the ELAC's, no question. I agreed.

Thanks Mike. LeRoy and I are wondering how much of the wonderful sound is coming from the black box on the floor to the right of the left speaker: the balanced transformer from Tim Marutani and 512 Engineering (Scott Rust). LeRoy and I heard an earlier prototype and it was spectacular.

The black box wasn't at Munich. [emoji41]

Here's my video of the prototype ELAC Adante's at Munich. Looks like a Niagra 7000 power conditioner.

Thanks Mike. Wish the effect of the Marutani/512 Engineering balanced transformer could be isolated, but too many variables in play unfortunately.

Mike, what is the full system in the ELAC room?

I had the same impression at the June show in LA. I will put my cred on the line and go as far as to say if you're looking at entry level Magico or YG you have to throw in the Adante. with the money you save it would buy a nice vacation and then some.

Mike,

Thanks for the wonderful posts!

Did you get a video of the Gryphon room? Which speakers did they demo and how did their system sound?

Thanks!
