Robyatt, DSA and VPI to launch new products in Suite 1130

Teaming up to present a no-compromise all-analog experience at the 2014 Rocky Mountain Audio Fest, Dynamic Sounds Associates (DSA), VPI Industries and Robyatt Audio will debut new products in Suite 1130 in the towers at the Marriott Denver Tech Center.

From DSA comes the Pre I linestage preamplifier, a cosmetic match for the company’s highly-reviewed Phono II which will also be in the Suite. The Florida-based manufacturer will be giving audiophiles their first look and listen to what the company’s founder and principal designer Douglas Hurlburt calls "my finest accomplishment to date. I am delighted with how it turned out." While superior sonic performance is the solid state Pre I’s most outstanding attribute, dedicated audiophiles will appreciate the versatility and feature package that comes along with this unit.

Robyatt Audio, North American distributors of the products of the Japanese-based Miyajima Labs, will provide the world-premiere of the Madake stereo phono cartridge. Using a cantilever of rare Japanese bamboo, it will satisfy all those music lovers who wished that their stereo LP's could sound as good as their mono LPs played back via the Miyajima Zero Mono (also in Suite 1130). Robyatt’s owner Robin Wyatt describes the product as “a paradigm shift in the reproduction of stereo records.”

While VPI’s Classic 4 has been on the audio market since 2012, the New Jersey-based manufacturer will debut a new twist on a product already revered by analogphiles. The turntable originally was equipped with two tonearms- the 10.5” Classic 3 arm and the 12.7” Classic 4- the ideally-sized arm for the turntable. President Mat Weisfeld wondered if it was possible to up the ante. “I asked my dad (VPI’s co-founder Harry Weisfeld) if we could fit two 12.7” tonearms on the Classic 4's plinth. It worked!

Supported by DSA and Miyajima, VPI's newest product, the Prime turntable will also make an appearance at RMAF in Room 437 hosted by Funk Audio

1130’s remaining contributors include Wells Audio and their Innamorata Signature power amplifier; Silver Circle Audio and their Tchaik 6 power conditioner; DanaCable's interconnect, power and speaker cables; and Kanso Audio Furniture. Andrew Jones of TAD has provided a pair of his CR1- Compact Reference loudspeakers.
“Our Suite is filled with my favorite audio equipment,” says DSA sales and marketing director David Sckolnik who put the team together. “We’re going to be playing some great music- all on vinyl. I’m especially excited to play mono Lps with a mono cartridge for folks who have never had that experience. It’s going to be a blast.”
1130 will also hold two special events. On Saturday, October 11 at 3 p.m. it will be all Beatles as the new Mono LP set will be sampled with Miyajima Zero-Mono cartridge- as it is supposed to heard. The next day at 1 p.m. enjoy a unique opportunity to hear live music (brilliant 16-year-old violinist Bryant So) directly compared to recorded music (classic Decca and EMI mono Lps).

I would like to encourage everybody attending the show to stop by our room. There are some extraordinary lines of equipment represented and it promises to be a special sonic experience. My new Innamorata Signature will be in attendance and it will be all vinyl all the time. I hope to see you all there and please don't hesitate to introduce yourselves.

IGreetings!

Rather than hand you yet another sheet of paper, or emailing you these documents after you visit, I thought I would supply the models, descriptions and prices of the equipment on demo in the Audio Note UK room 566 in advance.

While none of these products are new, per se, this year marks the first time the CDT One transport and DAC2.1x Signature will have been heard at RMAF.

TT Two Deluxe - $3,525 - Updated TT Two suspended, two motor turntable with wood-veneered Russian birch plywood plinth, all internals upgraded to superior materials. An external power supply with electronic speed switching is available as an option or upgrade. Black Ash shown. Black or white gloss, rosewood and cherry are also available.

Arm Three V2 - $2,000 – New Audio Note-designed 9” tone arm, AN-AI 99.99% pure silver wire with AN-Vx external cable. Single piece tapered arm tube from tip to tail. A drop in replacement for 9”arms based on Rega geometry. Available in black or silver.

IQ3 - $980 – Our best moving magnet cartridge, with a Pocan body weighing 6 grams. The square cross-section titanium cantilever with an Audio Note type 2 is identical to the one used in our $4k+ IOI low output moving coil cartridge.

CDT One/ II - $4,100 - The display may be dimmed or turned off and a remote control is included. Brushed aluminum fascia with aluminum buttons (shown), or black acrylic fascia with gold buttons is available.

DAC2.1x Signature - $5,500 - A Red Book DAC utilizing the AD1865 18 bit chip that allows it to read 24/96 files, (albeit truncated to 18 bits.) I/V conversion is accomplished via purpose designed, in-house wound transformers. As in all Audio Note DACs, no up-sampling, oversampling or filtering is used. Analog output utilizes a pair of 6922 tubes, while power is rectified by a 6X5 tube. Output coupling is via Audio Note copper foil capacitors. Audio Note tantalum resistors are used in critical locations. Your choice of brushed aluminum (shown) or black acrylic fascia.

OTO SE Phono Signature - $6,325 ($5,525 line) - We took the classic OTO parallel single-ended, EL84 integrated amp, added AN tantalum resistors and AN foil caps in critical locations, then replaced the M4 IE output transformers with IHiB double c-core models - superior magnetic core material in a superior topology. Available with your choice of a brushed aluminum or black acrylic faceplate.

J/D - $3,700/pair satin ($4,000 as show w/hemp woofer) - Two way, acoustic suspension speaker system, 92dB/w/m sensitive, using an 8" woofer and a 1" silk dome tweeter, wired with Audio Note D copper speaker cable. This entry level version of the J uses a cabinet with MDF front and back faces and particle board top/bottom/sides. The D model is only available in satin black ash.

Join PS Audio for Sprout, tubes, Bascom King and Arnie Nudell at RMAF!!

Boulder, CO, October 7, 2014—PS Audio invites you to join us at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest to celebrate our 42nd year in business!

Come see and hear the World Premiere of the new PerfectWave Amplifier designed by Bascom King, with a World Premiere of the incredible Infinity IRS Beta speakers, set up by their designer, Arnie Nudell!
(Okay, the IRS Betas might’ve first premiered a couple of decades ago, but you’ve never heard these stunning speakers sound like THIS.! We promise.)

At CanJam we’ll be officially launching our amplifier for the modern home, Sprout. Come listen through some incredible Audeze headphones—or bring your own.

In Room 550, the Keystone Suite, we’ll have an overview of PS Audio’s past, our present, and most significantly—our future. We’ll be showing two systems:

The first will show how great a $2,000 system built around Sprout can sound in a unique setting we call the Sprout Lounge. Listen through Audeze headphones or GoldenEar’s amazing Aon speakers.

The second system features the best of the past, present and future: sources will be the PerfectWave Memory Player for discs, and Paul’s custom-built server for digital files, both feeding the DirectStream DAC.

DirectStream is the year’s most acclaimed new component, and will sound better than ever thanks to a significant firmware upgrade.

Two of the most significant figures from the history of high-end audio work their magic on the rest of our system: Bascom King is the lead designer of the forthcoming PS Audio PerfectWave Amplifier, featuring a tube front end and MOSFET outputs, and he’ll be on hand to show off the PerfectWave prototypes.

The PWAs will power a pair of the rarely-seen Infinity IRS Beta loudspeakers, personally set up by designer Arnie Nudell! Arnie will also be on hand during the show.

Paul thinks the Betas are second only to the Infinity IRS Vs in the PS sound room—and we’re sure not moving those monoliths!

We invite you to celebrate with us. Bring your old favorite CDs and hear all the music revealed by the MemoryPlayer and DirectStream, brought to life through the PerfectWave Amps and the IRS Betas. We promise it’ll be an event to remember!

RMAF 2014 Press Release Crestone Peak

AESTHETIX Metis line stage $20,000 estimated retail
The Metis linestage utilizes highly proprietary Aesthetix Coupling Modules (ACMs) in place of traditional coupling capacitors. An ACM in each channel is used between the gain and output stages with no interstage or output coupling capacitors. ACMs produce constant output impedance across all audio frequencies, resulting in a sound stage with incredible added depth, dimension and resolution.

The Metis uses the newly developed “Invisible” Separate Power Supply (ISPS). The power supply is housed in the inner core of the main chassis. When set on a flat surface, it physically decouples from the main chassis. This innovative design enjoys the sonic benefits of a separate power supply without the disadvantages of cost, size and heat.

The Metis user interface features a glowing panel of LEDs with logic board control, offering access to an array of features and functions including home theater bypass and absolute phase selection. The Metis also features Remote Control, 12 volt trigger and RS 232 interface.

Metis uses 4 tubes, 2 per channel for all amplification in a true dual mono configuration, is fully balanced, uses zero feedback and has our discrete switched resistor volume control. All inputs can be used single ended or balanced, and single ended inputs are internally balanced.

AMG Teatro MC phono cartridge $2,750
A special titanium body houses a generator using separate coils wound with Ohno cast (OCC) mono-crystal high-purity oxygen-free copper wire. Neodymium magnets are combined with a special soft magnetic alloy yoke to produce an output of .4mV at 5cm/sec. Coil impedance is 12 ohms. A solid boron cantilever with a diameter of .26mm is fitted with a line contact stylus (40 x 7µm) and the dynamic compliance is 18 x 10-6 cm/dyne. The Tiodize Type III titanium body is tapped for 2.5mm mounting hardware and features an aluminum stylus guard. Anticipated availability is late 2014.

CLEARAUDIO Concept Wood turntable $2,200 with tonearm
The newest addition to Clearaudio’s turntable line, the Concept Wood uses a Baltic Birch ply plinth for enhanced sonic and visual impact. A 30mm Polymer (POM) platter with weighted rim enhances flywheel effect, coupled to an aluminum sub-platter and platter bearing featuring a polished steel shaft, sintered bronze bushing, and Teflon thrust plate. The decoupled DC motor features 3 speeds with Electronic speed selection and rear-panel mounted fine speed adjustment. A new Satisfy Black tonearm features a precision mechanical bearing, magnetic anti-skate, VTA and azimuth adjustments, and hard-wired 1.2m tonearm cable. Introducing DS Audio in Crestone Peak at RMAF

We are excited to introduce the DS-W1 Optical phono cartridge from Japan at RMAF.

DS Audio is a newly formed audio business group of the Digital Stream Corporation ("DSC"). DSC has been in the laser optics market for more than 25 years. DSC is the provider of industrial laser optics systems in the optical disc market, for Medical testing systems, and for various laser optical instruments. The Optical mouse was co-developed by Microsoft and Digital Stream Corporation.

Unlike MM/MC cartridges, which are based on electromagnetic induction, an Optical cartridge detects stylus vibration by a beam of light.

DS-W1 Optical cartridge is a pure analog system. There is no digital process involved in the play back of a vinyl record. The difference is whether you read a record by the electromagnetic method or Optical sensing method.

The DS-W1 Optical cartridge uses Photo-electric Conversion to generate the audio signal. It is housed in a machined aluminum body and weighs 6.5 grams. With a boron cantilever and Shibata stylus, it tracks at between 1.3 and 1.7 grams with 1.5 being the optimal tracking force.

The DS-W1 includes a dedicated Equalizer/Power supply. This device replaces the "phono stage", allowing you to connect directly to a line level input on a preamplifier.

We will be demonstrating the DS-W1 Optical cartridge on the Clearaudio Master Innovation turntable fitted with 3 tonearms: Graham Phantom Elite, Tri-Planar U12, and AMG 12J2.

Target US retail for the DS-W1 Optical phono cartridge and Equalizer is $8,000 - $10,000
