There are so many songs I could choose to celebrate Richie Havens. "The Long Road" is a not so well known duet he did with Cliff Eberhardt...one of my favorites. Beautiful. Thank you Richie.

That is an awesome song. I was able to find it only on one CD. Thanks for posting this song Bruce.

Wow!

I steadily seen live music for as long as I can remember. Saw Richie Havens a number of times. First time was around 1971 at the Bitter End on Bleeker St in Greenwich Village. What a great place. Only cover was a big ice cream sunday. I saw so many great young artists there.....Harry Chapin, Linda Rondstadt, Tracy Chapman, Judy Collins, Jim Croce, Pete Seeger ....many comedians too, young and starting out. Richard Prior, George Carlin, Robert Klein, Matin Mull, Albert Brooks.... I can't believe how long ago that was. Richie Havens passing really touched me.

Joe, I listened to that song with my wife when I posted it. Brought tears our eyes.

RIP Richie you were a wonderful tender artist and you enriched my life with your words and music.

Richie, Thank You for Everything!

* By the way, Richie left us yesterday on Earth Day.
...Freedom is everywhere, on Earth if we search for it, and in the entire universe of all the constellations. ...Richie is now a free shining star in the blue satin sky of the night.
