We've lost a great trumpet player to the world of Jazz.

I assembled a new turntable for review this past weekend.

The first record I played after setup was Clark Terry's Portraits album. I played the entire album.

I'll find a handful of other LPs with Clark Terry playing and add them to the current rotation.

One of my favorite Clark Terry albums is the 1960 recording Color Changes on the Candid label. Lucky enough to have found it on 15 ips tape and the sound is glorious. Little more bluesy than might be expected from Clark but it's a winner nonetheless.

Pure Pleasure Records reissued the album a couple of years back and it might still be available or on ePay. Not quite the tape and still exhibiting a little of that PP washed out sound (DMM and/or a later generation tape), this album still makes a worthwhile addition to the collection.

Do have Color Changes on CD. A nice album that I often use for peaceful listening.
Well, RIP and thank you for all!

Thanks for the recommendation Myles.

Clark Terry so much music, so much joy and laughter . One of the few who understood that good music can also be entertaining.
He could PLAY;
and be funny;
