Review: Harbeth Super HL5 Plus ....

Joe, how does the mid-range clarity and bass extension of the Harbeth 40.1's compare to your previous PMC IB2i's?

Hi,

I never had PMC. I'd love to hear them tough. I think it was Paul who had them.

Ha!

Even some of the turtles around here seem to be getting a bit of a reputation. :)

Hard to tell all you gear swappers apart.

oops - thanks

No Problem :) at least you didn't confuse with me and Mike :P

To my experience :

High : PMC IB2I was more detailed than Harbeth
MID : The Harbeth Mid is hard to beat . Sweet , Warm and the music will wrap around you. ( Only downside was all Saxophone sounds very similar regardless of players )
Bass : PMC was tighter and goes deeper without getting boomy and box sounds.

However If I had to make a decision out of these two.It would be the Harbeth.

Thanks for the review. That has always been my reservation with Harbeth. You get the mid-range but the bass has to be addressed, either you live without better bass or you try to integrate a sub which has it's own challenges.
