Brad has been running auctions for umbilicals on Agon just recently. After bidding and getting outbid and forgetting to monitor the end — I’m glad I did — a couple of hours later I received a “second chance” offer via Agon for a price well lower than my bid. I actually needed another 0.25m and he was most accommodating and very fair about it. After taking the arrangement off Agon, he got it out that day and it was here two days later.
As I listen 30 hours in — he recommends at least 250 — I can see why his cables are well liked. Dead quiet. Great and increasing clarity. Fast and dynamic. Wide stage with good placement. Mildly warm (pleasant surprise to me for silver). Using piano as a reference, highs are very real, the rest will apparently take longer and hopefully come around as handsomely. For example, Voices/perspective still somewhat distant, rendering the distinctiveness of the singer’s voice somewhat tonally muted. In some ways, a new listening experience already. This is in comparison to an awfully good custom built silver-tinted Belden copper umbilical that is a big improvement over the original cable with the preamp.
