Those are my Salon 2s and my late buddy Orbis. Pic is from 2012. We said goodbye last month after he was found to have a large tumor on his spleen that had ruptured. I decided he deserved a quick passing and chose not to put him through surgery and chemo just to prolong his life for a few months.

He was a strong, athletic, happy-go-lucky dog who loved everyone and was never sick until his final illness. For some reason he absolutely loved The Who and always came into the room and hung out whenever they were on the stereo. My other dog and I really miss him.

It's hard to lose a pet, I still miss my little girl, Gretel was the best dog I ever had !

It is understandable that you really miss that dog, Peter.
Dogs are great company.

Love the Salons - what a great room!

Sorry about your loss Pete. We lost our Westie 8 years ago - still miss the guy. He used to hang around with me and enjoy music.

Beautiful setup and room!!!

I would love to hear the Salons with your electronics. What benefit did you observe from the speaker stands?

Thanks Mark!

The Star Sound platforms definitely make a positive difference. It's like they remove a layer of film from a window between you and the music. Attacks are faster and more detail emerges, without a shift in the tonal balance to a leaner sound. They also improved the soundstage, particularly the depth. I have them under the monos as well - they didn't have as dramatic an effect there, but still one that was noticeable and pleasing. Sometime this fall the pre and sources will be going on Star Sound's Rhythm platforms.

The latest tweak is the palm trees - I can't believe the beneficial effect they've had in reducing reflections off the windows behind the speakers! Now even tipped-up sources that were too strident to listen to at volume sound decent, and I no longer have occasional impure thoughts about sub-woofers as the bass seems to be landing better at the listening position. Less than a hundred bucks at Lowes for the trees and pots.

Awaiting receipt of the Uptone Audio Regen USB thingy sometime mid-month. At this point I'm down to small tweaks for a while, although eventually I'll take a serious plunge into computer audio.
