Revel Studio 2 - Home again!

Ha! No, I guess not. When I had the CJ ART monos and the Studio2's, I had sleepless nights for weeks. Had to dismantle that system because I was a zombie.

Congrats Joe, can't deny true love, can you? [emoji3]

Awesome Joe! I used to own Studio 2's and they certainly are great sounding speakers.
Your audio ventures are something I always look forward to.

Thank you so much Buddy. I remember. You've had some great gear and I love your current system.

They both are good, however, there is a purity or realism I get from the 4367 horns in the high end that I am spoiled to. I visit my friends who have Salons, KEF Ref 5 and such, and even the highs from those type of speakers aren't as satisfying to me. It's not just the highs, of course, the rest of the spectrum has to be good as well. As memory serves the Studio did get lower in the registers by comparison. I did get a chance to compare the 4367 and Salons at Axpona for a bit. I think I'm just partial to the 4367.

Say, you ever thought about adopting a middle age kid, LOL

Oh boy, I don't know. Honestly it would be difficult choosing between the two as I love them both. I'd probably sell my Strads first :)

Both the 4367 and Studio2/Salon2 are great.

Yes, I agree. The 4367 and Strads are a little more open or "lit from within" on the treble. The Studio2 are a tiny bit more laid back. I don't feel there's a loss of detail or anything. Maybe that's why I love them so much. I can listen all day to the Sudio2 with zero fatigue. Not that I can't with the others like that but the Studio2 are smoother for a lack of a better word. The 4367 and Strads stay for sure and thank goodness I don't have to choose.

I guess I'm middle aged too :( and can't even afford myself.

My previous set up was a Pass amp with the Revel F52's, there, was, good synergy. I'd also guess the Mac kilowatts would get the Studio 2 off the ground just fine.

Hi Jack,

I'm starting them off on the Ayre combo and boy do I have to say it's outstanding. The main reason that I went for the Studio2, apart from having them before and missing them, was because I knew they are relatively easy to drive. Certainly easier than the Salon2. So all my decent amps will be great on them. Triodes might have to be on the rotation list later this week. I'm sure that would be a great combo too.

Joe

Are you running them with the the Job's, Ayre's or Triode's as all should work fine.

I don't think you can go to far wrong with any of them. Would be curious to hear them with the BHK preamp and a 250.

That would be another great system. I still think about the BHK 300 monos. Those were wonderful. I'm sure you'd love these Studio2. Solid performers.

Congrats Joe! I know of at least another AS member that went full circle with the Última line. They sound terrific after all these years.

Thank you Mike. Time to get some sleep :)

These have such a wonderful tweeter to my ears.

Congrats Joe!!

It's funny how our paths are similar. I went from the Salon 2's to Raidho D3's and then Dali Epicon 8's. I ended up with Salons again and I appreciate them more the second time around.

Who says you can't go home again...............

Thank you Mark. You can't keep a great speaker down. Both the Salon2/Studio2 have withstood the test of time. I love mine too.

Thank you. Yes, Both are excellent and are rare gems in the speaker world. I wanted the Studio2 again because they are not as heavy/big as the Salon2 and the Studio2 are easier to drive overall.

Little late to the party ... congrats Joe!
The Revel Salons are one of my favorite speakers.

OK, Joe, this is weird. I have become friends with one of the dealers here, who is the Harmon/Revel dealer, so he has my number. He gives me a call today saying he ordered a set of Studio 2 for display and somehow was shipped 3 pair. So he is offering a good deal on them to move them quickly.

What a crazy coincidence as I was just talking about choosing. I'm fairly certain I will stick with what I have, I just thought what a striking coincidence.

Wow! That's great, maybe you should introduce us :)

Seriously, The 4367 and Studio2 are a little different and will probably excel on different amps.

I'm sure this isn't the case, but almost sounds like the old "van with the extra speakers" on the street corner scam.

Ha!

There must be some end of run clearance going on. There's been talk for years of Salon/Studio 3 or similar, but only when they are truly better.
