Rethinking My Current Music and Home Theater Set-Up

Not sure where you're located, but there are a few pro audio shops that carry D&D, a few more that carry Genelec and a whole bunch that carry stuff like venerable JBL, etc.

Well call me foolish, because while I could, I will not be including those type features. I design for only maximum SQ, not maximum complexity (variable directivity is already incomprehensible to audiophiles)...and things that can go wrong. I'm already keenly aware of active speaker users having issues with those type features. First hand knowledge. As always, YMMV.
Btw, I'm also a screen/PJ guy for movies, TV for daily driving.

After having a chance to spend some time in the new house, this is what I got so far:

  • The music room and the video room are now two separate rooms.
  • The music room remained a digital/analog (TT) room with non-active speakers.
  • The video room now consists of a big TV with a Sonos Arc and surround system (both active speakers). No comparison to my last set-up in terms of screen size, however, it is a more casual and inviting environment that facilitates casual viewing and works just fine.
I sold several pieces of equipment (projector, screen, two mono amps, a multi-channel amp, and two surround speakers). Also, I have no space for a PS Audio Powerplant in the equipment rack, so that will have to go as well.

The house came with a Sonos system. I was pleasantly surprised of how well the Sonos system works. I believe that Sonos can only go as high as CD quality (16/44) which is totally fine by me. I am listening to more music now (via Sonos) than with my old system. The saying that "the best camera is the one that's with you" applies nicely here.
