Resonance Control Devices - Do They Work?

I use isolation platforms/footers for digital source, preamp, amp and speakers and even for the Shunyata Triton power conditioner. For each component, the platforms/footers result in a very significant improvement in SQ - not subtle at all. :)

J2020,

Having a pair of Die Musik myself I was wondering what kind of isolation platform you were using under yours?

Hi Bud,
Good post. Do you use any resonance control devices(RCD) under your Pass amps?
The Harmonix RCDs under my monos produce a night and day improvement.
Cheers! J

No, mainly because the amps are approximately 150 pounds each, and are to heavy to lift and properly place any device. Then again, they would probably drive the Micropoint footers into the maple shelf they sit on. I should buy some Stillpoints for them.

Hi Dan,

It's great to meet another happy AudioShark with Die Musik.
For these lovely babies, I use Harmonix RF-999MT "Real Focus" Tuning Feet(set of 4) under their supplied spikes.
With these devices, Die Musik will bring even more magic to your listening room.
Here's the link :-

Happy listening. Jon.

Just aquired 9 Stillpoint SS.
Do you think I would get the best performance from these under my speakers, or under my both DA/preamp and 2 mono-amps?

]Fantastic post Bluefox.

This one section of text explains exactly why control of energy in audio equipment is absolutely paramount. I'm still looking for a rack to isolate my system. Currently opt for sorbithane pads and granite direct to solid wood floor over poured concrete.

Imagine the tiny fraction that a our loudspeaker cabinet must vibrate compared with the tiny drive units and its easy to appreciate the importance of micro vibrations.

Micro vibration is a fascinating subject.

Everything works.....for instance...take 3 Hunts Tomato Paste cans (or anything else) and lie on their sides so they roll. Put your CD player, preamp, etc. on these three cans (arrange the cans so that they don't roll when under your component....and experience the difference. (I'm not kidding). Thats how I started my company manufacturing gizmos called Pon-Tunes using this idea.

I looked them up. Pretty cool.

Where can I buy a set?

Back a few years ago, Mike Latvis from HRS was showing his damping plates in a dealer's main listening room. He placed two plates on an Audio Aero Capitole cd player on each side of the transport. The listeners were all industry professionals, and everyone heard a narrowing of the soundstage and a distinctly less coherent bottom end when the plates were removed.
Since then I've been a believer in this kind of energy control, especially HRS products.

My experience has been that isolation under digital devices is beneficial for sure. Under other devices/speakers - experimentation is needed IMO. Too much can suck the life out of a system IMO. YMMV.

Thanks, Wisnon, for posting the link.
This is very interesting, Stringreen.
Are the rods made of wood, metal or some composite material?
