REL G1 mk2's

Mike, which subwoofer cables are you using with the RELs?

Do the G1s use the same type of special high level input cables as the S5, with the high level input connector on one end and three strands with forks on the other?

Despite best efforts by my REL rep to convince me to go wireless (he swears it sounds better), I instead opted to upgrade to the REL BassLine Blue cable:

A nice upgrade from their stock cable. I ordered a custom length at 4 meters. The stock length is something crazy like 10 meters, which would be fine if I was going with subs in the back corner.

The cable has a red, yellow and black (ground). Assuming you're running monos, you connect the red and yellow to the positive terminal on the back of your amp. I'm currently floating the ground and have no issues. I may however try loosening one of the screws at the IEC plug on the back amp and connect the ground wire to that. But right now, I'm floating the ground.

The cable comes with these tiny little spades that wouldn't fit on the back of my Soulution amps, so I ended up cutting off the spade ends of the red and yellow, used my cable splicer to peel back the cover and then twisted the red and yellow wires together and popped them through the hole on the back of the terminal. Worked like a charm.

Using the remote control to sit from your listening chair and adjust the subs, I've been able to dial them in nicely so far with a crossover point of 32hz and 13 on the volume. The subs are blending beautifully and the Mk2 is a big step up from the Mk1.

I will of course continue to play with settings, positioning, etc. and hope that Jim Smith can carve time out of his busy schedule and make a trip down to help me dial everything in in the big room.
