Observations of:

1. Thales TT with Thales arm and Zyx Uni 1 to Feickert Firebird with Thales arm and Zyx Uni1
2. Feickert Firebird with Thales arm and Ikeda 407 both carrying the Zyx Uni 1 for arm compares
3. Reed Idler drive with Reed 3Q and Zyx Uni 1 compared to the Feickert with Ikeda 407 and Zyx Uni 1
4. Pluto 12a with Reed 2p and Koetsu RSP
5. A brief compare of dCS Rossini and EMM Labs

Nice to read. A10 audio is my "dealer", the owner Alex is very friendly. Does not matter if you buy at the low end of his products. He always takes his time to help you.

I know all the tonearms and cartridges mentioned(used and demoed most of it), i am agreed with the findings, but zyx universe is not a good match for ikeda. koetsu would be better match for ikeda. reed and thales tonearms are very good match for zyx universe. i believe with ikeda kai and ikeda 407 would be a killer match.

Also finding a dealer, gives a lots of options to consider is an amazing thing. You may listen many speakers and amps in many dealer, but when it comes to analog it is a another story. Five star to A10 audio....

Hi yes another person who owned Ikeda and Zyx suggested the same thing, as you might have read in my report. I preferred the Ikeda with the Zyx to the Thales with the Zyx (both on Feickert) to the weight and stage and bass, but number95 on WBF suggested Graham for Zyx and the Kai for Ikeda. I heard the Reed too with the Zyx on the Reed TT but both Ron and I preferred the Feickert set up. I think you once suggested to me Feickert works best with heavy arms like Kuzma 4p, and I guess Ikeda arm is in that category

Absolutely Bonzo, Feickert TT are working with heavy mass tonearms better, i have no idea why. Zyx uni is a very light cartridge, it has to work with mid to light mass tonearms better. Ikeda is high mass tonearm without a doubt, complience should be considered etc. These are not certain facts of course, one may have a decent sound with an unmatched cartridge&tonearm. Also i do not like to be misunderstood, i am agree with your findings, my suggestions for a better comparison, thats all...

Yes I agree - Analog requires different impressions across set ups

I'm using ikeda 407/ikeda kai and SME V/zyx omega gold on feickert blackbird and totally agree with altanpsx except feickert tts can handle mid mass tonearms as much as they handle heavy mass tonearms. They are usually matched with kuzma tonearms but I never liked stogi ref 313 on my turntable and swapping it with ikeda 407 which was the best move I've ever made in my analogue rig.
