Recommended medium to large bookshelf/stand mounted speakers?

No matter how well designed, a 2way bookshelf speaker will always have limitations... you want a 3way.
 
Im always fascinated by people who recommend speakers which they have never owned.
 
Dynaudio C1 are awesome but need to be played louder than I’d like late at night. I had a pair of the platinum and oh man they were good. Turn up the volume a little with a great amp and they’re spectacular. Totally disappeared and awesome tone.
 
I love my office speakers - Evolution Acoustics MMMicro on dedicated stands.

I know you didn’t care for the tweeter on the TAD CR-1, but have you considered the ME-1? I heard them in Munich two years ago and was relieved when my buddy bought the pair at the show so I couldn’t.

I have not heard the ME-1 but would like to. I was talking about this with Mike yesterday. If I had the TADs today, I think the McIntosh MC901 amps would be killer on them. I could dial down the tweeter relative to the bass and enjoy the heck out of them. I miss having that opportunity.
