What are expectations on how long one should wait for a repair to be done if the manufacturer is in your home country? I'm talking about gear we would buy, not Sony, etc.

Up to 2 weeks
Up to 4 weeks
Up to 6 weeks
Up to 2 months
Up to 3 months
Up to 4 months
Up to 5 months
6+ months

It depends on the nature of the problem. I had a cracked glass on my McIntosh 207 amp and it took 14 months to get repaired and actually never got repaired, my dealer just took glass off a new unit he had in stock and replaced mine with it then he waited even longer to get the replacement for that new unit.

I would say, GENERALLY, 4-6 weeks is fair.

When my Integra HT had the notorious dead HDMI Board, it took about 6 weeks. My local repair guy, Quest for Sound, had both a Hafler Pre and a Rotel Receiver back to me in 2 weeks. Tube gear would need to go to RHB Sound Dezign and he has a bigger backlog of Mods.

I would say 4-8 weeks if being shipped out , personally Anything under 5 yrs old in need of repair i usually dump it , well unless i built it ........

I'm in the 4-6 week camp as well.
If there is no way around it and it needs to take longer I'm ok with it. As long as the manufacturer makes me aware of the abnormal wait time and keeps in contact if time estimates change.

Anything over 4 weeks & the man supplies a replacement for the absence. I actually enjoy this scenario.

My experience has been 4-6 weeks as well. I wonder what our reaction would be if we took our vehicle in for repair, and they took it away for 6 weeks. :reallymad:

My Daughters car had a recall last year and Chevy kept the car for 6 weeks waiting for a part. They did provide a loaner. The car was 7 month old...She was not a happy camper.
