Ready to make a change

I have heard Magico several times over the years and they have never excited me to the point of wanting to own a pair. Just a personal preference.

I have been a Magico S3 MkII owner for four years. I love these speakers, but earlier this week I heard Magico A5s at a local dealer driven by D'Agostino Progression amplification, and I have to say these are outstanding speakers, at least for my preferred classical/jazz genres. As noted above, not beautiful to look at, but IMO (and others - see the reviews) they make beautiful music at an MSRP well below their sonic competition. Worth an audition.

I liked the QLN Prestige 5Â’s a lot and ended up purchasing. I also purchased a pair of Acora SRC-2Â’s that I use for mastering. The current plan is to put the P5Â’s in a dedicated listening/review room and use the Acoras in my mastering space. Anyone wanna buy some used B&W N801Â’s with a pair of Classe CT-M600Â’s that was my previous mastering monitor system?

Hi, is it rude to mention speakers that suncoast audio doesn't carry? If so i'm a day late as usual. Odds are your next speakers will have to sound pretty similar to your old ones to sound right? Why not buy used and go up the ladder?

Of course not!

So I made a decision based on what I was able to hear locally. I think I will live with these for now and look at the Kharma Midi as the end game pair sometime in 2022 if I can find them to demo. My search left me with a really bad feeling of the state of high end audio dealers today with only a few exceptions. Mike has been extremely helpful and one of the exceptions.

Thank you. I should have mine before the end of the year. If we can work in a visit after I get mine and before Dec 31, we can lock in the old pricing.

The Von Schweikert VR-5 Anniv MKII have served their purpose but it is time to move on. I am looking to spend around $20k for a pair, my room is 24’ wide by 19’ deep with 9’ ceilings, hardwood floors with area rug. Open to the left into a open concept kitchen and dining area not included in these measurements. No issues with any left/right early reflections. Modest refractive and absorption panels on the walls currently with BAD panels being made to replace and supplement my current and add to the ceiling above the speaker area. My preference is a very detailed and pinpoint soundstage, extended bass is nice but I have subs. My music preferences are eclectic with nothing set in stone as far as a specific genre.

A few options I am considering are the following.
Kharma Elegance S7
Focal Sopra 3
B&W 803 D4
Marten Heritage Getz 2
Wilson Sabrina
Revel F228 Be

I am ready to hit the road to demo any and all of the above. I am hoping to get some great system building advice from the vast knowledge of the forum members. Thanks

With that size room you may want to look into the Klipschorn ( if you have clear corners ) if not the Klipsch Lascallas would be another great choice, speaking from experience. They also love tube amplification.

the speakers I was replacing were the Kef R 105/3 after 25 years i decided to try revel, then Usher then paradigm, Meridian and back full circle to Kef (coupla VA's mixed in there). I do think we stick with a specific brand because they sound 'right' and in my case the other brands just sounded a bit off after so much time with one brand. I even found the Kef R 107/2 sounded a bit bright after the 105/3's.
