Been reading a lot of talk here on StillPoint Ultra 5s & how they seem to do their thing under Wilson's in particular.

I'd like to put forward another option for your consideration for 1/15th of the price. The Quadraspire QX7 Isolators. Now I'm not suggesting that these outperform StillPoints (maybe they do!), merely that the price/performance ratio may be a more attractive proposition.

Not to mention, the height differentiation with these installed under conventional spikes is negligible. Afterall, many loudspeaker manufacturers design their floor standers to perform optimally at specification & some may be hearing a tonal shift as a result of raising their loudspeaker height.

I came across these when I decided to go with Quadraspire Sunoko racks. Not only do I use these under these racks, but also under my loudspeakers, Solid Steel monitor stands & F113 Sound Anchor stands.

Loudspeakers weigh approx 50kg each. They have a conventional plinth & no sophisticated decoupling mechanism. They have been spiked on QX7s sitting on solid timber & floating floors as well as commercial carpet mats.

The subs & their spiked stands weigh more. The spiked racks vary between 100-150kg each loaded. So they will handle a 50kg point load without a problem.

As far as the loudspeakers are concerned, the result is the same on each surface. A massive improvement than just using spikes alone or spikes & cups. Great imaging & focus.

The Quadraspire QX7 utilises a stainless steel base, with an absorbtion material sanwiched between the spike absorber to neutralise the adverse effects arising from contact vibration resonance and improve sound quality and acoustic insulation.

Hi Steve,

Anything that you can draw a vertical path is Damping not isolation
I'm not saying they don't work but they absorb vibration and also sound and you don't want to do that

With the stillpoints you also can adjust the Height as manufacturer design was in the first place.
With the Ultra SS and 5 you need to get the Ultra Base

I have Quadraspire racks and Qx7's for the spikes. I replaced the Qx7 with Ultra5's. I can't make a performance comment because I changed many things in my demo room recently. I will say that Bruce with Stillpoints is a huge fan of Quadraspire racks with Stillpoinrs products. He feels it makes the Quadraspire rack compete with 20k plus racks. Just FYI

see now i like these. my speaker bases are sloped from front to back and the rear cannot fit any stillpoint product that i have seen. without raising the speaker height. so i was looking for just better type of cup for the spikes. with a little better dampening since i put my speakers right on the tile floor. i think these are perfect for my needs.
thanks steve!

but i gotta tell you after a couple searches an websites they sure dont make them easy to find or buy. jeez!!!

I use a total of 38 QX7s in my system for the racks & loudspeakers. That would be over $25K worth of StillPoints? :crackedout:

So are suggesting for Quadraspire racks & loudspeaker stands to use the SS-Ultra with base but no hardhart?

What are the StillPoint options for loudspeakers?

No doubt the QX7s work with the bush design sandwiched between the swivel cup. Ascertaining any further gains to be had would require a StillPoints demo. I don't think a dealer here is going to loan me so many units somehow...

Are you asking me? If so I'm not suggesting anything. I just stated that I had both and have not compared the two yet. Also I'm just saying the Stillpoints rep speaks highly of Quadraspire racks. He said they are one of the best you can buy and are only better with Stillpoints. Just his opinion of course. Depending on speaker size you can go with Ultra mini, Ultra SS or Ultra 5. I suspect the mini would be limited to stand mount speakers. I would not be the guy to make recommendations on all the different models. As I said before I'm going through a bunch of equipment burn in. My system is changing about every 6-7 days trying to get time on the gear. I should be finished in about two weeks.

if your components are isolated on your rack, i dont see how putting stillpoints under it could possibly help.i can see it with speakers for sure. i made my rack so the components sit on a very heavy 3" thick piece of wood,(turntable 4") several layers of maple, with rubber glue in btween layers. then they sit on the frame on rubber isoblocks in the corners to keep any vibrations to the frame and legs. although i wish the spikes on the bottom were on better floor pads(like these qx7's) i doubt anything under them stillpoints, quadraspire or big bags of liquid would make a sound difference. would be cool if it did, but i cant see it. unless it was doing the isolating vibrations job the rack should be doing.
someone is going to send me some qx7's soon to test out to see how they work for me. im excited to check em out.

David, just 4 (or 6) under the stand's feet, no need for individual component Stillpoints?

For me at the moment I'm just using 6 on a Sunoko 2v that I'm using for an amp stand. I tried them with the S5's but I also had just changed cabling to a complete Nordost V2 loom. I did not like the combination and didn't know what was causing it so I removed the Ultra5's and put my trusty TL cabling back in. The problem with my room is it is treated for theater. So it's slightly over damped. I need to add everything back in one at a time and see how far I can go before the music becomes to controlled and dry.

Look forward to you findings. Thanks. :) I meant to direct the question to Nelson having lost the edit in the duplicate post...

As for the Quadraspire Sunoko racks, I love them. The have a sort of organic snap to them. I have the pre-bamboo version. I like the sway in them & only hand tightened the rods without too much torque.

A custom sized & balanced HRS M3X platform for the MT10 is crossing the pond as we speak. That will sit on the Quadraspire Sunoko. Hope it works well with the Quadraspire shelf.
