I ordered some Psvane (pronounced "Pah-vane") TII series CV181-Z's. These are 6SN7 equivalents.

The new TII series is an improvement on the relatively popular Psvane Treasure series. TII essentially means "Psvane Treasure II".

From the Psvane website, the improvements over the original are:

Crystallized carbon grey coating inside the tube: This makes the TII series tubes to be a ‘grey bottle’, not a ‘black bottle’. The Crystallized carbon coating technology used in vacuum tubes have been patented by Psvane Audio in China and pending abroad. The benefit of the Crystallized Carbon coating will improve on absorbing random electrons inside the vacuum tube and dissipating heat more efficiently under extreme temperature, which will further enhance the stability of the vacuum tubes.

Teflon Base with Oxidized Aluminum Collar: instead of using fragile ceramic base, the TII series tubes use low conductance and highly durable Teflon materials for the base (no including the guide pin in the middle) to improve on anti-corrosion and anti-breakage. The brass-color sandy Oxidized aluminum collar around the Teflon base is anti-corrosion as well – no more finger prints and oxidization on the tube base with time of use, and your tubes will maintain a prestige condition for a long time.

Product logo engraved on the base, not printed on the glass enclosure: As many tube amps have tube sockets installed in various directions based on circuit layout, previously the printed logo on the black bottle tubes may face inconsistent directions. TII series have logo only engraved on the base so your amp will maintain a consistent and highly desirable appearance for all TII series tubes.

Higher quality glass enclosure: Higher quality glass is used for the new TII series to offer a better hand feel of the tubes, plus slightly heavier weight (approx 10% among all models) than previous series.

Sound Quality: TII series has he new coating materials which offer an even better music presentation in terms of minor 3D imaging improvement, layering and clarity. You will not lose anything in terms of sound by going for the latest and newest TII series if T-series are phased out and will gain all the greatly improved workmanship mentioned above.

The packaging is also exceptionally good:

Here is a picture comparing the size of the old tubes to the new one:

holy crap!!!!! i love them!!!! i need a pair to try out soon. cant wait for some feedback on how they sound.. what are they replacing as the stock tubes ??

so i guess i was wrong, ive been calling them piss vanes?? lmao!!!

Actually no Steve, they are replacing the 1950 Sylvania's. The stock 6SN7's are EletroHarmonix. They were ok, but not at this level. I wanted to see if there was even more magic with all Psvane in the preamp and amps. After properly warming up, they give up nothing to the Sylvania's and seem to sharpen imaging. As they continue to burn in over the next few weeks, I will have a much better idea. So far, so good. I can't get over how much bigger they are than the Sylvania 6SN7's or stock ElectroHarmonix.

One thing to note is that the original Psvane Treasures CV181-Z's had such a wide base that they didn't fit into the Cary SLP-05. These fit beautifully.

I've got a set of these on the shelf awaiting the soon-to-be-delivered Oppo MW 105 Darbee. It will be tough to compare them to anything else because everything will be brand new and burning in together, but I'll report back with pics none-the-less.

This big Emission Labs 5U4G rectifier tube will be protruding out of the 6" hole in the top of the power supply.

Those are some seriously huge 6sn7's Mike. I can't get over how much bigger they are than what you had in there. I like the looks of them with the grey glass. You know it's just a matter of time until some Jersey guy wants to "borrow" a set!

Keep us up to date with the sound as they burn in...

Will do. The Jersey guy just got his "Mike's Tube Library card". He's signed out some sweet 300b's.

I know the shape of these tubes reminded me of something else Russian. Hope they burnin we'll

Mike,

What are your impressions of these tubes now? I assume that they are well-broken in at this point. Also, did you consider the Shuguang CV181-Z?

They are good for new tubes. Ultimately, I went back to my Sylvania's for my Cary SLP-05. I did try the Shunguang CV181-Z's as well in my VAC amps. They were a little darker sounding than the TII's. If you want 6SN7's, I would ping Nikolay at [email protected] and see if he has any Sylvania's.

Thanks. I'm considering some cryo'ed Electro-Harminix Gold 6SN7s with maybe a pair of Tong Sol 6SN7 Round Plates in the 3-6 positions. An SLP-05 user on Audiogon posted great results with this combo. Interesting that you found the Shuguang darker than the Psvane. Some have found the Shuguang to be even better than the Tong Sol Round Plates.

Mike you get them from Grant Fidelity?

Yes. Them and Nikolay at Tube Maze are the only ones I trust after my bad experience with eBay.

They are local to you Mike! :)
