Psvane Replica WE845 tubes

Doug.....thanks for the quick overview of the Psvane 845 WE. A couple months ago I replaced the originally supplied 845's in my LM 218IA. I almost pulled the trigger on the WE's, but turned cheapskate at the last moment and went with the 845T. I'm not disappointed in the "T's" in any way and find them superior the originals. That said, the WE's are on my radar the next time around.....unless they take a colossal jump in price of course. For the record, the original 845's did not fail in any way. I just wanted to try a different 845.

I have just been reading this web site to get a better understanding of different grades of Psvane Replica WE845 tubes from the factory.I didn't notice a mind blowing difference when I rolled my 845 on the LM 219IA.
Does anyone know if the number on the card supplied in the box refers to grade.
My number is Type WE845 GHYMC01176
Serial No 20140618

~Tube FAQ & Must Read ~ | Psvane & Shuguang Treasure Audio Tubes, Caps and Amps
Luxury, Gift Box, Premium = Export grade for western market = Expensive
For this quality grade, on the factory test card, you will see a small sticker like the picture below (if you don’t read Chinese, just think it as a picture -compare the first character to see if yours are the real Premium grade at least on paper):
Normal, paper box, Standard = so-so grade (these tubes light up and make sound, don’t expect too much more beyond that, but factory wouldn’t throw them in the garbage) = Cheap

Stump - where did you buy them? Are the 845's the only tubes you changed in your 219ia?

I have the Psvane 12AX7Mk2.and the 845s were bought on Ebay. The LM 219IA is a impressive machine and when I have A/B it against Vitus -025 I have had a preference for the LM 219IA .Being my first tube amp I intend getting a LM pre-amp and maybe try the Elrog tubes in the next couple of years!!

Doug,
I have had a very bad experience with their high end EL34 tube, the Holland Replica.
I will never ever send them 10 dollars for anything.
I hope your tubes will still be strong in a few months.

Are you looking for vintage EL34 tubes, eg Phillips/Telefunken/RSD??? Send me a PM...

It's gonna be hard going back to the old tubes that's for sure. I didn't change any of the other tubes in the amp. It sounded so good I didn't even think to do so, but I still have time to try that out. In addition to the 845's, I'm using RCA 6V6G's and Telefunken 12AX7's. Not too shabby tubes either. ;)

Why not RCA 12AX7 Doug? Or Euro brands of ECC83?

Doug....what other drivers have you tried in the 218IA? I'm currently using NOS Marconi 6V6's for the first time. Also have some NOS Sylvania's of the same ilk. In the process of comparing these to the re-issue Genalex Gold Lion KT 88's which has been my go to driver up till now. For the record, I've found the Psvane "Premium" 12AX7's to be excellent in the 218IA as well. All my Psvane tubes have come from Grant Fidelity.

I do have some RCA's and have used them in the past. I find the Telefunkens give me a little more clarity without being harsh. I'm not against any brand tube and have tried various kinds over the years. I use Tesla 6922's in my Chinook with great success.

I've mainly tried different 6V6's because I like how this tube gives me the mids of an EL34 with a little more bass. I've tried RCA, Sylvania, Marconi, and the stock Shuguang. I've also tried SED EL34's which are fantastic as well and GL and Psvane KT88's. The KT88's just seemed "okay" to me. One tube I want to try as well is the KT77. Someday I'll get around to it.

I do have to say that, especially with the driver tubes, there isn't much noticeable difference. Just little differences between tubes. This also goes for the 845's. I guess some guys would think there will be a day and night difference between tubes and if you're spending upwards of $700 for a pair it better be damn well worth it. Like most things in this hobby it's about percentages. Is it worth the $$$$ to get a small percentage increase in sound back? Well that can only be answered by each individual person. The WE Replicas are worth it to me. They bring a smoothness and give out a more natural sound to me than any of the Shuguang I have tried.

Hi All,

Its 00h38 in France.
I work tomorrow (in fact today is already tomorrow ) and should be sleeping but...
I received today a quartet of these beauties and installed them on my Nagras and boy!!
I am under shock!!
When I read that they need a 100 hours to break in and that one should not judge them before, I wonder what is going to happen!!

Gould Partitas 1 and 2, CSN&Y "Four Way Street", "So Far", "Déjà vu", Diana Krall "Quiet Nights", Leonard Cohen (a lot), Wes "Full House"
Kind of Blue, Abbey Road (french pressing BIEM - around end of 60's)- Gainsbourg BIEM "Histoire of Melody Nelson" and many more..

These tubes are MAGIC!!!

Thanks to all of you who encouraged me to jump for them.

Upgrade will never end...

Analogically yours

(Tubes and Vinyle!! I know I stole it)

Best

Jean-Luc

Mike or Jean-Luc, what is your source of Psvane Tubes. I have a pair of their high end 2A3's that I got from Grant Fidelity a couple of years ago. With Ian's passing, Rachel is reorganizing the business and I didn't get a positive response from her a couple of months ago when asking about the Psvane tubes. Thanks, Larry

I only buy those from Rachel at Grant Fidelity. She's great to deal with.

Hi Larry,

I live in France and bought from a site in Germany called "Tube Amp Doctor".
I ordered last thursday and they shipped the quartet the same day.
With DHL express, I could track my parcel this week-end and received it at the first hour yesterday!
Just after ordering, the site showed "out of stock" so I bought the two pairs they had..

It is so addictive, I can't believe!
Now on the TT SHubert the Maiden and the Death Quartetto Italiano-Philipps
The strings are so real it is magic.

Best regards,

Dear Mike and Jean-Luc, thanks for the quick responses. I just checked the Grant Fidelity website and they have the new Psvane Treasure II tubes that I will try out.

Hi Tunes,

I have The VPA second version and I use them with the Balanced input as my pre is full balanced (in and out) with Cardas Golden Cross cable.
They are amazing amps.
In my room wich is quite big (around 50 square meters) I very rarely go beyond 2 to 3 watts indicated on the meters.

Best regards,
