Problem with my Fisher D2's

I recently moved and set up a temporary makeshift set up. And i realized my right side speaker is quieter than my other one. Both are identical. It is quite tinny also. Its been doing this for awhile but I have forgotten about it because I wasnt running the speakers by themselves. All speakers are putting out just that one tower sounds quiet and tinny. Any suggestions to what it might be?

Yes they are in phase.
They are in working condition but like I said that tower sounds quiet and tinny. You can definately tell the difference. Is there a way i can test their condition? I could take them apart and look at them but I dont know what to look for..
 
1. Turn the balance control all the way towards the problematic tower speaker.
2. Put a CD with music content from all frequencies; bass, mids to highs.
3. Turn the volume control up (fair level).
4. Put your ear right next to each driver (an inch); one at a time and listen carefully if sound is coming out (the bass driver you should see it moving). That tower; two or three drivers?

If you use the other good speaker and that you connect it to the side where the sound is low (on your receiver); are you having the same issue?

Let's start there and we'll climb the ladder together...

It sounds like your woofer(s) isn't/aren't working anymore which is why it sounds tinny. Pull your woofer(s) out of the cabinet and stick a multimeter on them using the resistance scale and see if they measure open or if they measure something close to either 4 or 8 ohms.
 
I can hear the woofer doing its job. But its not doing it well. Same with the tweeter. Im sure the passive radiator is fine.
I havent had the chance to turn it up and listen to the drivers yet, im living with some friends atm so im waiting for everyone to be gone. Might this be a crossover issue?
 
1. Forget the passive radiator; there is no electrical connection there.
2. Yes it is possible that the crossover is burnt. {Look for damaged wire connectors or brownish caps or resistors.}
3. ...Or that the woofer's voice coil is damaged. ...And same for the tweeter. {This is an expert's job.}

* Solution: Cheaper to buy another pair of speakers than to fix that one. ...Last time I had a tweeter repaired (burnt voice coil) it cost me $240. For $50-100 you can get a better pair of speakers than the one you have now.
- Also, you should get a more solid receiver (true wattage, with current capability).

** My guess: You override your receiver (clipping), and that caused one of your tower speakers to suffocate (by burning the x-over or by burning the voice coils in both drivers; woofer and tweeter).
- In the future, on the master volume level dial, don't go over 12 o'clock; stay below 11:30 or so.
 
What would you recommend to replace them? I would like something of the same size and capabilities. Also if you could recommend me a solid receiver that would be awesome 😄. I will check the crossover tonight. Fingers crossed.
 
Mmmm... You'll have to check what's avail in your neighborhood, or online (used); and then do some research. ...And within your budget, of course.

There are many good speakers and receivers out there. Brands to look for: Pioneer, Yamaha, (speakers and receivers) Rotel (receiver), Paradigm, Mirage, (speakers) ...
And those you can get for the price you can afford.

But I cannot do the search for you; it's your job.

* Here's what you can do: Check things out, here and there, and when you think that you might have found a pair of speakers and receiver that attract you, just report here for some honest and positive feedback. :)

I don't know what kind of audio shopper you are exactly (stores, online, etc.), and what is your exact budget.
The more feed you give me (us) the better a direction I (we) can suggest.

- I know that you are not looking for a pair of Wilson Audio speakers, and I know that you are not looking for a pair of Bryston monoblocks.
 
Tower speakers: Paradigm Titan, or Monitor 7, or some' like that.

Receiver: Yamaha, Onkyo, Marantz, or some like that. ...And one that is rated into 4 Ohm loads would be a bonus.

* If you can put $300 towards a pair of speakers (used one), and $200 towards a receiver (used one), that'd be swell I think.
If not, half of that is still a possibility.
 
Pretty much everything i have ive bought off of eBay. So im definately an online shopper.
My budget would probably be $200-250. But im not in the market right away, ive got to start saving.
 
Alright, eBay then. And your budget of around $200-250 was pretty much what I believed.

Anyway, I just gave you couple brands here to look for, just a direction that is affordable (value oriented).
Take all the time you need, but meanwhile use your other pair of speakers because one of your towers is caput.
...And don't crank that volume level pass 12 o'clock. ...Not only you can damage your speakers but also your receiver.
 
Yeah im always very anal about the volume knob. As of right now these will have to do, i dont have enough space at the moment to use my other floor speakers.
I looked at the paradigms and read some reviews and i think im sold haha.
 
1. I knew that you like to go overboard with the master volume level. Lol :-)
2. Paradigm speakers are your ticket; I believe. ...One of the great value brand for you (towers too).

And for you a Yamaha receiver would be an upgrade in the right direction, eventually.

Be good, be happy, and don't listen to music from a broken speaker!
 
Id like to find a decent preamp and amp setup. But money is a factor. Thanks for the input.
