She sure does.

The terminology McIntosh uses is Double-Balance Push-Pull Design. From their MC452 literature: The MC452 is fully balanced from input to speaker output. Matched amplifiers operate in complimentary push-pull with their outputs combined in the McIntosh autoformer. The resulting double-balanced configuration cancels virtually all distortion. This circuit design is possible only with the McIntosh autoformer.

The Double-Balanced Push-Pull Design is not just about a low noise floor, it is also about reducing distortion levels to virtually unmeasurable limits.

Bob - the 601's and 452 have identical sonic characteristics and both sound superb. Black backgrounds, dynamic, yet incredibly smooth on top.

Ok, true Balanced then; all the way from preamp input to speaker output. McIntosh simply used their own terminology (Quad balanced).

___________

The MA8000 is only dual balanced (not fully balanced)?
But it also uses Autoformer and PowerGuard proprieatary technologies inside.

I'm going to speak my heart here.

Talking about McIntosh, and with you Mike, and Joe, and with all the other super great members here (Paul among others) who own McIntosh products (amps, preamps, etc.), and with the deep respect I have for that company and its people, it makes it tough again to think that I was banned from that other audio site.
That, hurts deep inside my soul. ...I figure that I'm not the only one...

Not perfect for everyone around the world, as I have read from some Australian customers who don't have all the support needed from their audio dealers over there (SSPs), but for the people living in the USA, it's solid.

Given the competition, the 452 may represent one of the best values in high end audio. $8500 is still a boat load of cash....but the 452 IMO stands up very well to the competition costing many multiples.

I love North American gear! Shunyata, Bryston, Manley, Cary, Dag, VAC, Mc, Wilson and a near endless list! I love Asian tube gear too! Soooooo romantic sounding. Their gear melts your heart and won't drain your pockets.

I think it was Nick who was with me at CES and commented how there were many European startups with no track record charging exorbitant amounts for basically unknown, unheard of products.

As for the other site....ah, forget it. Time to move on. There are lots of good people there and here and both.

Oh but I've moved on Mike. :)
...It is from audio experiences and music exchanges that one can truly advance in life on his real music passion.
And the caliber of one can only be compared to its own level. Nobody has the same degree of emotional impact in his mind, heart & soul.
And no two people have the exact same bank account, and ultimate life's pursuit in expanding it. ...That and this (his music).

Paul, ... :D

It's a great time to be an Audiophile these days, that's for sure! :woot:

MA8000 has the 8 band tone control, like the C50 and I believe a few other integrateds and preamps.

Just curious who has a unit with an 8 band tone control? Can you adjust these remotely? Seems like almost too much to fiddle with for me. I like the simplicity of just bass and treble on my C2300. But obviously there are some who like even more "tweakability".

Hey Bob being banned from a forum or two isn't the end of the world if i don't have the right to speak my mind without insulting anybody i do not want to belong to forums like that you may not agree with what i say BUT i have the right to say so like everybody else.

PS: Banned in two french forums in the province of Quebec, when the forum belongs to an audio magazine that aint good.
