I recent bought the vinyl of MA Recordings Bach Goldberg Variations played by Ito Ema and recorded in 1994 on a Studer A-820 30ips 2 Track 1/2 inch, on 3M 996. Fantastic album, bothe sonically and artistically. I asked Todd Garfinkle whether he would consider releasing a 15ips 2 track of the album. He said he had been considering it. He would want to know what is the interest, i.e. how many potential sales. I told him I would post to see the interest at a few sites. At 45 minutes it would be a 2 reeler. I suggested that he should be looking at $300-400 which is about the current market. Todd said that he would have to make a copy of the master (I think he said 30ips 2track 1/2 inch) since the splices in the master would preclude using it to record each tape. Take a look at the MA Recordings website to learn more. If you are interested, please PM me and I will get the data to Todd.

Thanks, Larry

Larry, I bought the vinyl at the NYAS from Todd but haven't had a chance to play it yet. This is one of his few (if not only) analog mastered albums. If the quality is at least the same as his digitally mastered albums, this recording should be pretty incredible.

I don't have an R2R but do hope you get some interest from this, as it would only encourage more analog recordings from Todd. I love Todd's selection of music and how well recorded they are in the digital realm. Analog masters would only make it better!:audiophile:
