Let me introduce you to some beautiful Portuguese music, or should I say, beautiful music made by portuguese composers!
Without any special order (just as my mind occurs), here´s the first

Marcia

Please, let me know if you liked… :yahoo1:

Thanks. I'lldefinitely check out more music from Marcia. Vacationing in Portugal in2008, I fell in love with Portuguese Fado music after an evening at Parreirinha de Alfama in Lisbon. I’ve listened to music from AnaMourna, Carlos Do Carmo, Cristina Branco, Mariza, Amalia Rodrigues and otherssince then. Finding someone new is always fantastic.

Hi :hey:
Thank´s for the feedback.
Of course Fado is our identity card in music.
Fado has now some new greatest artists, who brought new clothes, new arrangements.
An example of this different way, is Yolanda Soares. I love so much. And voice, oh the voice…

Certainly I will come back many times to Fado

:peace:

With this beautiful song, we won this year and for the first time an old song contest in the europe.
The singer, Salvador Sobral, is now recovering from a heart transplant (not kidding).
I wish him all the goods and a long and happy life!

This guy (Pedro Abrunhosa) is one of our greatest contemporary composers. Is a genius (a freak to – he never removes his dark glasses:cool:). But in last years he made beautiful music with outstanding lyrics. Yes, he certainly is a poet!
If you want you can go discovering Pedro Abrunhosa. i´ll soon bring here some other works from Pedro. But this topic goes slowly, music by music. We have time!

Before “start” talking about “Fado”, let me present you the instrument that´s associated with Fado, the Portuguese guitar. This magnificent instrument is one my favorites and I often use it to check the system, the harshness of the highs, and all the harmonics the tweeter is able to reproduce.
There are different types of “Fado” but, to me, the soul of Fado is sadness, is suffering, is “saudade” (the feeling of missing someone or something).
If you want to understand Fado and the Portuguese soul is simple: just listen to this music. It has it all. If you love it you´ll understand what I mean.
Carlos Paredes was one of our biggest players of Portuguese guitar.

Rui Veloso. We call him the father of Portuguese rock and roll. But in the beginning his main influence was "the blues".
One thing is certain: he has a place among the greatest Portuguese song writes. He and Carlos Tê (the guy who made the lyrics), they have made some of the most beautiful musics i know.

Could this man have been the last Portuguese troubadour? :(
His genius allowed him to touch beauty with simplicity.
Even today, his music influences many other musicians who surrender to his enormous talent. There is so much to say about Jose Afonso. Some of his songs influenced our democratic revolution of April 1974.

There are men that never should die!
Enjoy the melody and enjoy the voice!

JOSE CID

José Cid is known in Portugal as a composer of popular music.
40 years ago!! (yeah, there´s no mistake) he made this masterpiece of progressive rock. Lots of people think this is one of the best of the kind in all Europe.
Please, listen the whole album. :audiophile:
