Portable high-end audio sound ...

Cool, but since I don't speak Japanese it was not easy to understand what was being said :)...

I really like my Astell&Kern portable. I personally believe they are one of the better ones out there! I take it to work with me every day. Currently using it with my HifiMan headphones. I have used it with my Abyss and it worked excellent with them. I just felt a little worried about carrying a $4000 headphone to work every day, so I picked up the Ananda.

If you don't see any turn the close caption (CC) on. :)

It is expensive I agree. It's not for everyone.

* What kind of work are you involved with; construction?

I am curious if you know what DAC is being used in the unit? They talk about specs and native DSD256 (well the spec for DSD256), but never mention what DAC they are using, unless, of course, I could be blind.

It looks like a great unit, but I will stick with my A&K :).

Nah... computer administration, software development, etc.

3.3k euro for a portable music player that cannot stream.

"It runs an Android 11 operating system, which opens the door to the Google Play Store, native streaming apps from Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Deezer et al and their offline playback smarts. Plexamp too."

"Users can freely install any Android-compatible software, including MOOV, KKBOX, Apple Music, Stream music apps like Spotify, TIDAL, and listen to streaming music in Ultra HD quality."

The DAC is Sony’s own S-Master™ HX digital amp technology DAC. ...No ESS, no AKM, no Wolfson Microelectronics DACs in this baby.

I read in the manual that you can always hook your own external USB dac.

On the other hand an external usb dac can always be hooked via a connector to a smartphone. but.. is this serious? runs on android 11. How many years support? 2,3 5?

I have an Astell & Kern, also, and I think it's excellent. AK 100 II. Use it with either Etys or Campfire Audio Comets.
