Gentlemen,
I can't thank you enough for getting the cable, the 2 banana plugs and the shrink wrap to me.
So how does my revised updated sound ...
Where I was

Sony multi disc CD player
California Audio Labs DAC

Where I am now
Bryston 7B ST Mono Blocks (20
Bryston BP 26
Bryston MPS-2 Power Supply
Bryston BCD-1 CD Player

OK the LB1's have never sounded so good - perhaps they were power starved?
This whole system is simply amazing. For the first tunes we put Adele's 25 into the player - are you kidding me ? Adele (with her orchestra) is hiding somewhere in our living room.
I can't thank you enough for all your help and guidance and for going far beyond the normal expectation of customer service
